Praise raised to the lofty throne on high
حرب وهذي بعدها حرب
War, and after it more war
بلغت مداها روعة الذكرى
The awe of memory has reached its extent
أو أيسروا حجوا بقلب خاشع
Oh pilgrims pray with humble hearts
يا من يقيمون لاستقلالهم عيدا
O you who are celebrating their independence
سل الوقائع عن سعد تجب طرف
Ask the events about Sa'd, an aspect of them
عد لابساً ثوب الخلود وعلم
Return wearing the robe of eternity, and teach
عاش هذا الفتى محبا شقيا
This youth lived loving miserably
شرفا أحبائي بأحساب جلت
Honor, my loved ones, with glorious accounts
إلى أستاذنا العلم الجليل
To our esteemed master, the eminent scholar
يا خارجين كراما من محابسهم
O honorable ones emerging from their prisons
أيها النائمون في الشرق من خفض
O sleepers in the East, in luxury reposed
أنزل الروع في صلاب العماد
He brought down calamity upon the pillars of the nation—
إن التي نجلت عليا أنجبت
She who revealed herself to Ali begot
ألا يا ليل ليل الفصل
Oh night, night of the season
إني منيت بأمة مخمورة
I am destined to die with a nation intoxicated
لبنان ما زالت سماؤك مطلعا
Lebanon, your skies remain still
عشيرة الأحرار في مأتم
The clan of the free in mourning
بشت غراسك عن بواكير الغد
Your sprouts have brought glad tidings of tomorrow's first fruits,
في رضى المربوب والرب
In contentment of the Lord and Master
وفد الحمى من قادة وأولي نهى
A delegation of leaders and wise men
يا نخلة الخير قول
O palm tree of benevolence, a saying
زوج سليم غليه آبت
The spouse of Suleiman has passed away to him
زرت حمى الحسناء والشمس قد
I visited the abode of the beautiful one, and the sun had
كلانا فاقد أما
We both lost a mother,
كافي الأسى تفتت الكبد
Enough sorrow to shatter the liver
جرى حكم الحديد على النياق
The rule of iron prevailed over the she-camels
لا تغاري من حسنها الملحود
Do not envy her fading beauty
ههنا تملك المهابة قلبي
As I draw near the ransomed tomb
دعا قلبي لتهنئته بياني
My heart called me to congratulate it
قد رأينا الإعجاب حولك إجماعا
We have seen the admiration around you, collectively
مضى حسن في ذمة الله أنسه
Gone is the virtuous one into God's care blissful
جليت في حلبة السباق
You excelled in the racecourse
إذا ما فرنسا قلدتك وسامها
When France adorns you with her medal
هذي الرزيئة فيك
This affliction in you
أفريد لا تبعد على الأدهار
Afraid don't be far away for ages
هنيئا لكم أن تسمعوا شعر حافظ

هكذا هكذا نبوغ الرجال

ألا يا بني غسان من ولد يعرب

ألفيت منك مروءة لم ألفها
I found nobility in you I never found
أفراقا وأنت آخر باق
Farewells, and you are the last companion remaining
يا من بكى والخطب جد أليم

هذي مليكات اللآليء أقبلت
These are the queens of pearls who came
إليك أهدي ثنائي

وليلة رائقة البهاء

حي الجماعة جاوزت

لمحت منك جفاء
I glimpsed coldness from you
صدق النعي وردد الهرمان
The prophet spoke truly, and the echoes reverberated,
حبب الفقر إلينا
Poverty has endeared us
ولوا المدينة وجهكم ودعوني
Turn your faces from this city and leave me be
أصول الضاد طيبة الأروم
The roots of the letter dhaad are fragrant and lush,

O supporters of knowledge, you have done well,
أهديت والمهدى ثمين
You gifted, and the gift is precious
أنت تبغي السيرا
You seek out tales,
انزل المنزل الحسن
Descend, O Hasan, to the blessed abode,
تمضي وذكرك ملء كل جنان
You pass by, and memories of you fill every garden
حسرة أي أن تبيني
What sorrow that you are gone
داعي الولاء إذا دعاني
When the caller of allegiance calls me
وارحمتاه قد قضى
And his mercy decreed
هذي عكاظ وذاك معهدها

ليبسم في محياك الرجاء
Let hope smile in your greeting
ظللت والشوق محرق كبدي
I languished while yearning burned my liver,
هيهات أن أسلوا أو أنسى
Alas! I can neither forget nor give up
لتعش وصفو العيش غير مشوب
Live long with untainted life's beauty
عاش فاروق مصر فخر الشباب

مليكتانا أدام الله عزهما

يا حسنها قارورة

سنى آنس الغرب فيه هدى
Sunnah delighted the West; guidance was in it,
يا أديبا إليه كل أديب
O man of letters, to whom every man of letters
يا فتى الفتيان أحسنت البلاء
O youth among youths, you have excelled in ordeal
دعوتك أستشفي إليك فوافني
I called on you to find healing in you, and you came to me
فز بغيداء أوتيت
Win the love of the maiden endowed with grace above all graceful maidens,
ما اختص فاجع خطبك التمثيلا
The eloquence of your mournful speech has no parallel,
كيف حالي أنا المدين وديني
How am I, a debtor, and my debt
أطلت نأيك عني
You prolonged your distance from me
إلى الغادة الزهراء من آل فاضل
To the radiant and blossoming Mishaal from the esteemed house of Fayyad
يا فاقدا لولد الوحيد عجبت من

يا ليل أبدعت نظام الحلى

قرأت أسطارك الحسان وكم

عهدتك لا تهوى ثناء لقائل

هل آية في السلم والحرب

يئست من الحياة وكان يأسي

فلما دعاه الله بعد جهاده

من مثل واصف والبيان بيانه

يا مصر خطبك خطب الشرق اجمعه
O Egypt, your plight is the plight of the East entire,
حجك أرضى ربك العليا
Your pilgrimage has pleased the Most High Lord
مزاج رقيق وجسم نحيف
A gentle temperament and a slender body
في معاليك قام عذر القوافي
In your sublime qualities, rhyme is justified
حبيب واسمه صفة لشهم
A beloved whose name is an attribute of generosity
يا لسان الدفاع عن خير دار
O tongue defending the best of homes
عاش فاروق المليك المفتدى دهرا مديدا
Farouk the righteous king lived long,
يا من نهنيء بالسيامة أسقفا

تحية الإكبار تزجى إلى

لم يخطيء التوفيق صاحبه
Success did not fail its owner
من بذله بذل الشباب
Those who sacrifice their youth
تحقق وعد الله والله أكبر
Allah's promise has been fulfilled, and Allah is the Greatest
كنت في الموت والحياة كبيرا
In life and death, you were great
نسب على قدر المفاخر
Lineage is valued for its glories
نفديك بالأرواح والأجساد
I will ransom you with my soul and body
لا تحقر الدرهم من مسعد
Do not belittle the dirham from a generous man
عصف الحمام بأي فرع سامق
The doves cooed in the lofty branches
إن في مجتمع اليوم لتذكارا مفيدا
Indeed, in today's society there is
يا من لها القصر المنيف
O you who has the elegant palace,
في المخلصين سلام
Peace upon the faithful ones,
أيبلغ منك سمع المستجيب

يا من يؤبن سعدا من تؤبنه

صفية الطهر آتاك الجهاد حلى
The jihad has granted you the adornment of purity,
كانوا ثمانية من الندماء

I weep for you, O Hussein, though
لي فيك من جهة المنارة معهد
You have a place in my heart near the minaret,
هذي رؤوس القمم الشماء
These are the lofty mountain peaks
عرس به جمع النقي من الهوى
A wedding that brought together the sincere's passion
يا وقفة العيد ماذا
O moment of Eid, what did you see
فتن النار إذا ما أذهبت

يا طبيبا تكامل العلم فيه
O doctor, in whom knowledge is complete
دع الخمر نصح أخ إنها

على رغم النوى أبقى قريباً
Despite the distance, I remain close
تضمه والرفقا المقتدين به
He embraces it, and the comrades who follow his lead,
يان له أوفى مدونة
O most faithful chronicler
أتحين في هذي النضارة والصبا
In this youth and prime of life,
من الملإ الأسمى على ذلك القبر
From the highest assembly above that grave
قلدت بالحق وشاح الكمال
You were endowed with justice and the cloak of perfection
برزت يا آية الجمال في
You emerged, O symbol of beauty, in
رأوا به المثل الأعلى بأبعدما
They saw in him the highest ideal, in the farthest extent

هل لشعري وأنت منه مرادي

The recognition of oppression upon the oppressed,
يا آل نحاس وآل بحري
O Aal Nakhas and Aal Bahri
يا من يرابي والربا بالهدى
O you who calculates interest and interest with guidance

يا له حلم شيخ في مضاء فتى
أشرق وحولك ولدك الأبرار
لم لا تشابه بين أيام تمر
ألنقد علم تزكيه نزاهته
رأيت ملاحا في بلاد كثيرة
نظر الشاعر حسنا
يدعوك معتل وأنت بعيد
أكذا نهاية ذلك الجهد
ألموريات أخمدت زنادي
أتينا للسلام وفيه عتب
تمنيت لو لمت تعصني قطرة الندى
بكل عاد الرضي وابن العميد
رب صن فاروقنا المفتدى
شهب تبين فما تأوب
نبا بك دهر بالأفاضل نابي
وداعا أيها الخدن الحبيب
أنظر إلى ذاك الجدار الحاجب
جمالك زاد روعته
ساءني ما تشتكي يا ابن أخي
علا مفرقي بعد الشباب مشيب
عجبا أتوحشني وأنت إزائي
عظم لم تسعه دار الفناء
ترحلت عن زمني عائدا
قل للذين طلوه
وفدوا يسألونني كيف حالي
يا ربة الحسن ترعاه طهارتها
أنا في الروض ساهر وهو نائم
إن بكى الشرق فالمصاب أليم
إلى أهلها تنعى النهى والعزائم
بناء لآل الصيدناوي حققوا
دال السكون من الحراك الدائم
رأيت العروس وأترابها
عبقت زنبقة الوادي
لكيرللس المفضال راعي رعاتنا
وتفاحة أعطيتنيها تكرماً
يا حسنها حين تجلت على
اليوم خامرني الغرور
رأيته ورآني
ألشرق طال سباته الروحاني
فديت يا من كان صادق رفعة
لي مليك أحبه
مددت طرافك للائدين
مولاي دم بين الملوك
و علي من فعلي في الجى إذا
علمتني الخط فما راعني
إذا ما انفرط العقد
وافى الحديث إلى غريب الدار
ما القول في عبدالحميد وفوق ما
عشنا زمانا وكان فيه إلى
ما من عظيم سوى سعد أتيح له
في ذمة الله وفي عهده
هذي عكاظ وذاك معهدها
بالأمس أمته من بيته اتخذت
عنوان فخر الفتاة شعر
حي الكنانة غدوة استقلالها
سل المحاماة كم يوم أغر له
حي اتحادا للنساء
جمع الحب أي جمع كريم
أيها الفاضل الهام تهنأ
يد لله لا توفى بحمد
صوت الكنانة في يوبيلك الذهبي
لا تسلني وقد نأوا كيف حالي
سبرت نهاية الإخلاص خوفاً
ألتوأمان اللذان كانا
فاروق إنك ذخر الأمة الغالي
فوق الكلام العمل
صفحات مدادها من ولاء
صفراء من فالوذج البرتقال
تجلو الشمائل والفضائل زينة
تهنئات مني على قدر ودي
بعد ألف وبعد بضع مئات
أعلي يا أسرى سري
إفتتحوا النادي أو اقفلوا
يا صلاح الأسير سر واسبق العصر
ألا هل تركتم يا لقومي فضيلة
يا مصر كم في سيرة الجيل الذي
واذكر ضروب كفاحه لبلاده
واذكر له ذودا مجيدا صادقا
لكنما الكبراء في أقوامهم

يا من تجلت فالعباد عبادها
عادوا وقوفا حول قبرك
دهر غشوم رمى
إن تستطع أنقذ فتاك
إني لأحمد ربي
في الرفيق الأعلى ونعم الرفيق
شرفا يا عزيز يهنئك العطف
رهط حلوان لم يكدمنك يحظى
قد قام في منيل مصر مسجد
برزت من الماء الذي ابتردت به
أيعقل حزني عن وداعك منطقي
طفل لسام كان وعد سعادة
شيم قد عرفتها
رب حكيم مرسل لحية
يا من شهدنا أنه كاتب
ما كان أخلقها بهذا المرجع
قد شتت الضغ المفرق بينكم

في هجرة لا أنس فيها

نظرة في العلاء يا حسن ما
يا عين فيجتها وصافي مائها
يا فتاة يجلو النبوغ حلاها
