Did you leave me living with a wounded heart?

Is the adornment of youth and the light of my friends?

3. And for whom have I planted or built
Or erected a lofty palace with pillars?

Have days allowed for individuals?

5. I used to hoard all that for him
Who will be the chief of my descendants

The Supreme Caller calls the excellent youths.

7. You will remain, my boy, filling my mind,
As long as I live, and you will remain the light of my gloom,

8. Stay in bliss, delight of my eye, immortal,
Other than you, my wakefulness is prolonged.
