1. What man built this lighthouse
And guided lost souls wandering in confusion
١. أَيَّ بَانٍ أَقَامَ هَذِي المَنَارَ
وَهَدَى النَّاسَ مُدْلَجِينَ حَيَارَى
2. They are drunk but not with wine
The tyrants went too far with them and destroyed
٢. وَهُمْ خَابِطُونَ فِي الجَهْلِ أَشْبَا
هُ سَكَارَى وَمَا هُمْ بِسَكَارَى
3. The blossoms of paradise leaving only thorns
Truth is violated and hidden
٣. أَسْرَفَتْ فِيهِمِ المَمَالِيكُ إِذْلا
لَ وَرَدَّتْ نُضْرَ الجَّنَانِ بُوارَا
4. While innocent blood is shed unjustly
The wrongs have gripped them
٤. يُسْتَبَاحُ الحَقًّ الصِّرَاحُ فَيُخْفَى
وَيُرَاقُ الدَّمُ الذَّكِيُّ جُبَارَا
5. From all sides, weak and strong
They remained so for a time
٥. أَخَذَتْهُمْ مَآخِذَ الضَّيمِ مِنْ
كُلِّ النَّواحِي خَصَاصَةً وَصِغَارَا
6. Until God sent one to lift their burdens
There is no just man in Egypt who does not
٦. مَكَثُوا حِقْبَةً كَذَاكَ إِلى أَن
قَيَّضَ اللهُ مَنْ أَقَالَ العِثَارَا
7. Remember that day with us
O King whose words are most noble
٧. لَيْسَ فِي مِصْرَ مُنْصِفٌ لاَ يُحَيِّي
مَعَنا اليَومَ ذَلِكَ التَذْكارَا
8. Do him full justice, exalt him
He expanded what his grandfather and father built
٨. يَا مَلِيكاً رَوَائِعُ القَوْلِ فِيهِ
لاَ تُوَفِّيهِ حَقَّه إِكْبَارَا
9. So that his great works surpassed theirs
٩. زَادَ مَا شَادَ جُدُّهُ وَأَبُوهُ
فَتَخَطَّت أَعْيَانُهُ الآثَارَا
