1. Oh grazing shepherd of the Nile, with abundance
A just provider, free from tyranny
١. يَا مَنْ رَعَيْتَ النِّيلَ رَعْيَ مُوفِرِ
لِلْخَيْرِ مُقْتَصٌّ مِنَ الطُّغْيَانِ
2. Your benevolence was fair during draught or plenty
No favoring one man over his fellow
٢. عَادَلتَ فِي إِحْسَانِهِ حَتَّى اسْتَوَى
إِحْسَانُهُ فِي الشِّح وَالفَيَضَانِ
3. You silenced those whom you did not please
When you made justice the scale's measure
٣. وَمَنَعْتَ فِي المَقْسُومِ مِنْ آلائِهِ
إِيثَارَ إِنْسَان عَلَى إِنْسَانِ
4. A tribe greeted you at the frontier and you dwelt
Among them in the most glorious place
٤. أَفْحَمْتَ دُونَ مَنْ لَمْ تُرْضِهِمْ
لَمَّا جَعَلْتَ الحُكْمَ لِلْمِيزَانِ
5. You were given charge of their affairs altogether
So to you from them is owed all gratitude
٥. حَيَّاكَ قَوْمٌ بِالحَصَافَةِ سُسْتَهُمْ
وَحَلَلْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِي أَجَلِّ مَكَانِ
٦. وُلِّيْتَ بِالمَعْرُوفِ أَجْمَعِ أَمْرَهُمْ
فَإِلَيْكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعَ الشُّكْرَانِ
