1. O man of letters, to whom every man of letters
Turns for guidance, eloquence and wisdom,
2. I am told your wine cellar holds a wine
That was set free in jars long ago,
3. Freed from blood, returned to pure water,
Then by time's alchemy turned to spirit.
4. The sweat of taste is the sign of taste in what
They have described, the pinnacle of craft.
5. So if you have a surplus of such a wine,
Give generously and accept my gratitude.
