1. Two sermons followed one another while the bereaved mother grieved
For what befell her who lost her babies

2. Her eyes dried up from all her crying for her two boys until her heart was saturated
Joseph, grief is indeed severely overwhelming

3. So return to reason even if your innate disposition refuses
Were you not in everything you experienced

4. One who contends with fate and is pleased with tribulation?
A decree from God has occurred so be patient with it

5. And equip yourself with patience that wards off the unseen
Your two remaining children intercede for you

6. Two angels in place of the two who are gone
Strengthen your soul and carry their burden strenuously

7. Are you not capable of it all?
When the shade stretches, what is their state?

8. Chastised when they are innocent
O you whose kindness and opening his palms

9. Sufficed the weak and needy
And eased life for those who found it constricted

10. Making life beloved to them
How can their misery be when they are deprived of

11. That sympathetic crippled one
And the elect—most of them are desolate

12. If they lose the company of the chosen beloved
You are a nation whose youth is the desired

13. In all that you seek and every pursuit
Do not sever a tie that gave you power

14. And none but you were that tie

17. For opposites cannot accompany one another

18. What was pure amusement and play
O mother, and you are the best example

19. To mothers in manners and morals
Your living faith—and this is its time—

20. Makes tribulation effortless and brings wonders
Live, my Lord, for your two children for they

21. Will comfort the bereaved patient one
And tend to their father for how much

22. He needs the one who tended him since childhood
In the Garden of God and in His Bliss

23. They are lodged with Him, not expatriated
They were absent from eyes one morning

24. But from hearts they never went absent
