4. O Farouk, protector of the mighty kingdom, renewer
Of the era of Farouq as it was before.

5. That righteousness with which his caliphate was mighty
Made anew today, undertaking again,

6. What burdens on you that you take on
And hardly seem to find any difficulty in bearing?

7. We ransom you from one who works late for the people, easing
Them with good and warding want and gloom from them.

8. And you do not cease striving for the advancement of the people
And success in its various forms.

9. You tend the weak whose safety has been made mighty
And the babe in the cradle and the old man who has lost his vigor.

10. Before you there was hunger with no one to care
And nakedness with none to clothe, and ruin.

11. Your hands encompassed until no corner could be seen
In your kingdom that was not blessed by their overflow.

12. O excellent day of opening made complete in its charm
With beauty, varied, and thanks, brought together.

13. In an assembly whose notables of the land gathered in it
The lofty, the honored, and the noble.

14. The King fulfilled it with his patronage
A palace built on beneficence that stopped and stood still.

15. In the most populous land, a hospital, lofty and high--
Far from describing what qualities it encompassed!

16. A place where bodies are healed of every sickness,
And in its cheerfulness is healing for those who look upon it.

17. Apportioned, its divisions perfected, whoever sees it
Sees benefits clothed in every corner.

18. In it devices and tools for medicine,
Fashioned, its workmanship making it a treasure.

19. When one despairs of pain, he sees hope
In the open space of the house, an enchanting garden.

20. The Crescent sheds the light of its mercy upon it,
And its light is a balm for spirits, where it was pure.

21. Joseph built it, his brothers cannot ruin it,
A help, and each is to the memory of those who enabled and fulfilled.

22. In their increase are traces of their creators
A quality of inherited generosity that was gentle.

23. Simeon built it, as was his custom,
And how much good is known in it for Simeon!

24. Farouk, deliverer of Egypt, did he ever see a reason
For good but that he inclined with kindness toward its people?

25. How many excellent enterprises did he accomplish by resolve
And how many grave perils did he ward from his people?

26. It suffices as protection, under his command,
That those who shoot arrows at it make it their one target.

27. Long live the King! If you call out to him,
It is not just the tongue, but the heart that calls.
