1. In the name of the crescent, a symbol
The heart cannot misinterpret its revelation

2. Though the crescent conceals
A full moon and only shows a letter

3. No secret lurks in the unseen
That deep insight cannot uncover

4. A noble youth of wisdom
Whom the winds cannot blow astray

5. He was never pushed to the back of a line
Except to lead its march ahead

6. A peerless minister whose worth
Equals the letter alif in its elegance

7. As if his position weighs on him
A heavy burden beyond his strength

8. With the aid of the Almighty before him
Who carries half his load

9. Firm of purpose yet gentle at heart
For virtues know well his frailty
