أقيلوا أخاكم إذا ما عثر

1. Show mercy to your brother when he stumbles
For the virtuous have virtuous traces

١. أَقِيلوا أَخَاكُمْ إِذَا مَا عَثَرْ
فَإِنَّ الْجَمِيلَ جَمِيلُ الأَثَرْ

2. And support him against misfortunes
That destroy youth when they prevail

٢. وَأَوْلُوهُ نَصْراً عَلَى طارِئٍ
يُبِيدُ الشَّبَابَ إِذَا مَا انْتَصَرْ

3. And protect the citizens from an affliction
When it becomes prevalent, it brings lessons

٣. وَصُونُوا المُوَاطِنَ مِنْ عِلَّةٍ
إِذَا مَا تفَشَّت أَتَتْ بِالْعِبَرْ

4. Will he who is hoped for deliverance perish
While you have feelings and insight

٤. أَيَهْلِكُ مَنْ يُرْتَجَى بُرْؤُهُ
وَفِيكُمْ شُعُورٌ وَفِيكُمْ نَظَرْ

5. With the slightest negligence during your frivolity
You jeopardize the country, gravely endangered

٥. بِأَدْنَى المُضَيَّع فِي لَهْوِكُمْ
تَقُونَ الْبِلاَدَ أَشَدَّ الْخَطَرْ

6. Congratulations to those who avert the calamities
With some prayers when they can

٦. هَنِيئاً لِمَنْ يَدْرَأُ النَّازِلاَ
تِ بِبَعْضِ الصِّلاَتِ إِذَا مَا قَدِرْ

7. Your country is a paradise of bliss
Threatened by a blast from Hell

٧. بِلاَدُكُمُ جَنَّة لِلنَّعيمِ
وَتُنْذِرُها لَفْحَةٌ مِنْ سَقَرْ

8. When illness disturbs that serenity
The flowers and hearts are saddened

٨. إِذَا الدَّاءُ كدَّرَ ذَاكَ الصَّفا
ءَ فَقَدْ سَاءَ وَرْدٌ وَسَاءَ الصَّدَرْ

9. Will you not buy with some cares
Every rising youth like the moon

٩. أَمَا تَشْتَرُونَ بِبَعْضِ الدَّرَا
هِمِ كُلَّ فَتىً طَالِعٍ كَالْقَمَرْ

10. And every maiden whose branch has withered
And who was hoped to bear the sweetest fruit

١٠. وَكُلَّ فتَاةٍ ذَوَى غُصْنُها
وَكانَ يُرَجَّى لأَحْلَى الثَّمرْ

11. The price of security is helping those
You assist, at home or on a journey

١١. مَنالُ السَّلاَمَةِ دَانٍ لِمَنْ
تُعِينُونَ فِي حَضَرٍ أَوْ سَفَرْ

12. And in Egypt there are retreats
That heal hearts and ward off strangers

١٢. وَفِي مِصْرَ مُنْتَجَعَاتٌ بِهَا
شَفَاءُ الصُّدُورِ وَدَرْءُ الْغِيَرْ

13. The weak regain their strength in them
And see varieties of beauty through their eyes

١٣. يُجَدِّدُ فِيهَا قُوَاهُ الضَّعِيفُ
فَيُجْلي بِشَتَّى حَلاَهُ الْبَصَرْ

14. And the frail ill return from them
With healthy bodies and rested eyes

١٤. وَيَرْجِعُ مِنْهَا الْعَلِيلُ الْكلِيلُ
بِجِسْمٍ يَصِحُّ وَعَيْنٍ تَقَرْ

15. So, elite ladies of proud lineage
Whose glory has been the noblest families

١٥. فَيَا نُخْبَةَ السَّيِّدَاتِ اللَّوَا
تِي نَمَتْ مَجْدَهُنَّ أَعَزُّ الأُسَرْ

16. May God reward your efforts with good
Thus, the ways of beneficence continue

١٦. جَزَى اللهُ بِالْخَيْرِ مَسْعَاتَكُنَّ
كَذَاكَ تَكُونُ حِسَانُ السِّيرْ

17. And bless every generous, noble hospitality
That answered the call of generosity and took initiative

١٧. وَبُورِك فِي كُلِّ سَمْحٍ كَرِيمٍ
أَجَابَ نِدَاءَ النَّدَى وَابْتَدَرْ

18. Oh mistress of the house, some souls
Are evident through the beauty of forms

١٨. أَيَا رَبَّة الْبَيْتِ بَعْضُ النُّفُو
سِ يَدُلُّ عَلَيْهَا جَمَالُ الصُّوَرْ

19. The best traits are those of ladies
Who gave generously and guarded their virtue

١٩. أَحَب الْخِصَالِ خِصَالُ اللَّوَا
تِي بَذَلْنَ النَّوَالَ وَصُنَّ الْخَفَرْ

20. And the purest cognizance is that of fair hands
That give freely, belonging to the virtuous

٢٠. وَأَزْكَى الْعَوَارِفِ بِيضُ الأَيَا
دِي تَجُودُ بِهِنَّ ذَوَاتُ الْخَفَرْ
