1. I congratulate you on your high rank, which is also congratulated,
For what you have achieved with it of glory and honor,

2. With some of your excellence you have raised
The status of your people - which honor is more perfect?

3. O most perceptive of creation in knowledge and in action,
And most detached from vanity and arrogance,

4. You have avenged the East for an era that passed it by
With no memory of it except what is told of past generations.

5. And the aspect of glory - it was afflicted
With an illness you strove to remedy though difficult, and it was healed,

6. You accomplished what the eminent could not accomplish
Among a people you surpassed in excellence and did not stop,

7. And after enduring hardship you chose no diversion
Except by reviving remnants of art and masterpieces

8. Of every source of pride - had the hand of Providence
Not strengthened them, they would not have escaped ruin.

9. As for virtues, you were granted their adornment
From every type, beautifully harmonious and well-proportioned.

10. O their subtlety in a system none can rival,
An arrangement in which various charms are strung!

11. Valor, discretion, daring on one side
Generosity, finesse, and beneficence on the other!
