1. You have adorned me with favors beyond count,
How can I fulfill a duty that exceeds what I've been granted?

2. What path is there for me to even minimally repay
Each eager benefactor who honored me?

3. My loyalty cannot fully discharge even some
Of what I owe, if perfect loyalty were possible.

4. I fear you may misinterpret my intent,
If I say I am not the lowliest servant.

5. My people reside atop the lofty elite,
The finest of humanity in morals and intellect.

6. If the mighty they aided gain triumph, or
The lowly they denied aid become disgraced.

7. The lands of DAD are diverse in appearance
Though essentially they are but one homeland.

8. Those representing it in this assembly
Are the best of their age in sight and hearing.

9. All of noble lineage or proud lineage,
None among their lineage has a purer origin.

10. And all who hold office their nation takes pride
In their sharp swords or wise eloquence.

11. And all the aspirants and studious scholars,
And the thriving merchants or artisans.

12. The wealthy guarding reputation not wealth,
Hoarding praise not riches.

13. The poets who captivate the world with their verse,
For the warblers trilling artfully have no tunes sweeter.

14. The spendthrifts lavishing wealth as though
They'd taken it at no cost.

15. Oh chief minister, did my position allow
The grandeur of what I present to endure?

16. May God protect the leader of his nation,
And the Arabs‐may He grant victory and fortify him!

17. He whom eminent nations have known
To deny nothing in public or in secret.

18. Without him Egypt today would not have attained
Her status, nor Arab unity come to be.

19. And may God protect the Kinana's sons with
Well-being and safety from trials and afflictions.

20. And give long life to all who defended DAD
Whether king or president entrusted over it.

21. For each came in his era, and his is
A history bonded with this glory.

22. Endure, and may your days be a thousand flourishing,
Without return of the alternating misfortunes and sorrows.
