1. The air is not temperate,
It is cold then hot,
١. لَيسَ فِي الجَوِّ اعْتِدَالٌ
هُوَ قرٌّ ثُمَّ حَرُّ
2. It is a state then a state,
It is hot then cold,
٢. هُوَ حَالٌ ثُمَّ حَالٌ
هُوَ حَرٌّ ثُم قَرُّ
3. All whom you meet complain
Of hoarseness of voice and chest,
٣. كُلُّ مَنْ تَلْقَاهُ يَشْكُو
عِلَّتي حَلْقٌ وَصَدْرُ
4. And there is no doubt the harm
Comes from where one knows.
٤. وَالأَذَى مَا فِيه شَكٌّ
جَاءَهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ يَدْرِي
