1. The homes of knowledge, no matter how I seek them,
Will always find me ready to support them.
١. بُيوتُ الْعِلْمِ مَهْمَا تَلْتَمِسْنِي
لِنُصْرَتِهَا تَجِدْ مِنِّي مُجِيبَا
2. So what of an institute nurtured by my wisdom,
And tended with all my care?
٢. فَكَيْفَ بِمَعْهَدٍ يَرْعَاهُ رُشْدِي
وَيولِيهِ عِنَايَتَهُ ضُرُوبَا
3. With the wisdom of one who holds Egypt dear,
And builds for its glory hearts true and sincere.
٣. بِحِكْمَةِ مَنْ يُعِدُّ لِمِصْرَ هَاماً
وَمَنْ يَبْنِي لَعَزَّتِهَا قُلُوبَا
4. May the Merciful reward Hussein with favor,
The state's wise and eloquent leader.
٤. جَزَى الرُّحْمَنُ بِالْحُسْنَى حُسَيْناً
رَئِيسَ الدَّوْلَةِ اللَّبِقَ اللَّبِيبَا
5. And for that was Egypt's prayer for him,
For his noble ideals, a reward sublime.
٥. وَكَانَ لَهُ وَذَاكَ دُعَاءُ مِصْرٍ
عَلَى آيَاتِ هِمَّتِهِ مُثِيبَا
6. Your deeds, my lad, bear witness,
Though the least of them is a wonder to attest.
٦. فَقَدْ شَهِدَتْ فِعَالَكَ يَا فَتَاهَا
وَكَانَ أَقلُّ مَا شَهِدَتْ عَجِيبَا
7. Have you not spent in its cause every virtue?
Leave then for others some goodness to inherit.
٧. أَمَا اسْتَنْفَدْتَ فِيهَا كُلَّ فَضْلٍ
فَدَعْ لِسَواكَ مِنْ فَضْلٍ نَصِيبَا
8. You, beloved of glory, O you whose every
Praiseworthy act finds a lover,
٨. وَأْنْتَ أَيَا حَبِيبَ الْمَجْدِ يَا مَنْ
يَظَلُّ لِكُلِّ مَحْمَدَةٍ حَبِيبا
9. Your ancestors never ceased in all calamities,
To bridge the gap or bring ease to the deprived.
٩. كَآلِكَ لَمْ تَزَلْ في كُلِّ جُلىَّ
تَسُدُّ الثَّلْمَ أَو تُسْدِي الرَّغِيبا
10. If you seek a distant goal, you will attain it,
Even if the journey is long and fraught with doubt.
١٠. إِذَا رُمْتَ الْبَعِيدَ فَذَاكَ دَانٍ
وَإِن فَاقَ السُّهَى وَبَدَا مُرِيبَا
11. A stranger in this land, seeking the strange,
And reaching it, though the path remains unknown.
١١. غَرِيبُ الْدَّارِ طَلاَّبٌ غَرِيباً
وتَبْلُغُهُ فَمَا يُلْفَى غَرِيبا
12. But for you, every sought aim would fail,
And every hope refused to avail.
١٢. سِوَاكَ يَخِيبُ فِيمَا يَبْتَغِيهِ
وَيَأْبَى مَا تُرَجِّي أَنْ يَخِيبَا
13. May God guard you, O auspicious star,
So your rising persists and does not from sight afar.
١٣. رَعَاكَ اللهُ من نَجْمٍ بَهِيجٍ
بطلعِتَه وصانَكَ أَنْ تَغِيبَا
14. When the thirsty seek from you a draught,
That rain will soon pour down in abundance brought.
١٤. إِذَا اسْتَسْقَاهُ مَنْ يَشْكُو ظَمَاءً
فَذَاكَ النَّوْءُ يُوشِكُ أَن يَصُوبَا
15. No home of knowledge but you have blessed
With pouring clouds and rain without arrest.
١٥. فَمَا مِنْ دَارِ عِلْمٍ لَمْ تَحِدْهُ
سِحَابَاً كَاثَرَ القَطْرَ الصَّبِيبا
16. No home of righteous deed but found you
Quick to respond when good was due.
١٦. وَمَا مِنْ دَارِ بِرٍّ لَمْ تَجِدْهُ
إلى دَاعيَه لِلْحُسْنَى قَرِيبا
17. No home of the ill but you were there
To tend and heal their every care.
١٧. وَمَا مِنْ دَارِ بِرءٍ لَمْ تَجِدْهُ
إِذَا اعْتَلَّتْ لَعُلَّتِهَا طَبِيبَا
18. O you who returns with fortune's grace,
Hoping for bounty and goodness in your place,
١٨. أَلاَ يَا عَائِداً بِاليُمْنِ يَرْجُو
لَهُ في قَوْمِهِ نُعْمَى وَطِيبَا
19. We praise your return after absence, so rejoice,
And rest your heart, made spacious and voice.
١٩. حَمِدْنا العُوْدَ بَعْدَ الْنَأْيِ فَاهْنَأْ
وَحُلَّ مِنَ الْحِمَى صدراً رَحِيبَا
