1. O our esteemed and virtuous scholar
You have brought us honor, wealth, and glory

2. Each day you add excellence to excellence
So persist in virtue and spare no effort

3. Building abundantly for God with what
You earn through piety and store with purpose

4. In life you have asceticism, and when
Your work brings no benefit, it becomes austerity

5. Whoever reviews our history over the ages
Would be hard pressed to find an era like yours

6. Where civilization thrived in every way
And the peninsula gained glory and repute

7. It is no wonder, for one like you among us
That we compose poems and garlands in praise

8. O you who in Egypt represent the best
Of what you planted and guided aright

9. Truly Sir Al-Kufuri is an ocean
Of righteousness, spilling forth guidance and wisdom

10. Of upright character, keen of mind, even-tempered
Of refined manners, refusing all rivalry

11. He has not faltered in discretion or care
Nor transgressed the bounds of wisdom

12. In amiability and gentleness he has what makes
His character appealing to all people

13. If his qualities were revealed to all eyes
They would form a necklace of precious gems

14. Whenever his name is mentioned in any gathering
That gathering diffuses a sweet fragrance

15. It was the will of God that his realization
Should be a blessing upon this country and joy

16. Indeed you have done us a service, and does a
Service come except from one of piety?

17. May God ordain that the crown on your right
Hand be constantly increased through provision

18. You appointed Salman to the bishopric
Which had been prepared for the most devout

19. So there appeared in the system a new star
Deriving its radiance from the sun it reflects

20. A scholar, a worker, cultured, judicious
Eloquent, who would be hard to challenge

21. Eloquence adorned his mind with beauty
And fluency clothed his speech with silk

22. A man who examined his conscience and pleased
God with it at dusk and dawn each day

23. An exemplar of Christ bearing love
For his brother, not harboring hatred

24. No traits adorn a man, on the day of pride
Like him, most wondrous and peerless

25. The East of Jordan won in him a pleasing
Return, as if he had been a promise

26. His time was an era of goodness, and good people
Love their neighbor and become bosom friends

27. O noble sir returned to it, find
In it serenity and live in ease

28. And enjoy seeing the prince whom God
Has extended in glory and renown

29. A Qurayshi whom Adnan elevated
And Hussein as father and Hashim grandfather

30. So when you reach his majesty, greet
Nizar in it, and greet Mu'adda

31. And the glory of an ancient royal heritage
Which the glory of a most generous kingdom revealed

32. And a brow beaming light in the eye
And a tongue dripping honey in the ear

33. Then greet the esteemed elders of his aides
Honored for age and chivalry

34. He gathered the elite, wisest in mind
As his entourage, truest to their word

35. Journey in safety, and your memory among us
Remains, so your absence is not absence
