1. You taught us by example and pen
And by noble, honorable struggle

١. عَلَّمْتَنَا بِالمِثَالِ وَالقَلَمِ
وَبِالنِّضَالِ الشَّريفِ وَالكَرَمِ

2. What effect the modern woman has
In all aspects of progress for nations

٢. مَا أَثَرُ المَرْأَةِ الجَدِيدَةِ فِي
شَتَّى نَوَاحِي الرُّقْيِ لِلأُمَمِ

3. You saw a people suffering so you were
A mother to it when it faced the woes of orphanhood

٣. رَأَمْتَ شَعْباً شَعْباً يَشْقَى فَكنْتَ لَهُ
أُمّاً وَقَتْهُ مَكَارِهَ اليَتَمِ

4. And the blessings you were distinguished with
Did not prevent you from feeling pain

٤. وَلَمْ يُجْنِّبْكَ مَا خُصِصْتَ بِهِ
مِنَ النَّعِيمِ الشَّعورَ بِالأَلَمِ

5. You looked to its present and future
With the gaze of one steadfast on truth

٥. نَظَرْت فِي يَوْمِهِ وَفِي غَدِهِ
نَظْرَةَ بَانٍ بِالحَقِّ مُعْتَصِمِ

6. You were generous, delivering the commoners
From the betrayals of time and vengeance

٦. وَجُدْتَ جَوداً نَجَا السَّوَادُ بِهِ
مِنْ غَدَرَاتِ الزَّمَانِ وَالنَّقَمِ

7. Virtues made you nobly eminent
And ignited a light atop the flag

٧. مَنَاقِبٌ أَبْرَزَتْكَ مِنْ شَرَفٍ
عَالٍ وَأَذِكَتْ نُوراً عَلَى عَلَمِ

8. How apt it is for the East to see a ray
Emerging from its darkness

٨. مَا أَجْدَرَ الشَّرَقَ أَنْ يَرَى قَبَساً
لاحَ إِخْرَاجِهِ مِنَ الظُّلْمِ

9. And the clearest path to rise
From the slopes of its arrogance to the peaks

٩. وَأَوْضَحَ النَّهْجِ لِلتَّوَقُّلِ مِنْ
سُفُوحِ عَلْيَائِهِ إِلَى القِمَمِ

10. You polished a mirror for the modern woman
To show her perfection from nations

١٠. جَلَوْنَ لِلْمَرْأَةِ الحَدِيثَةِ مْرآ
ةً ترِيهَا الكَمَالَ مِنْ أُمَمِ

11. And every eloquent, lucid verse
You collected the masterpieces of wisdom in

١١. وَكُلُّ رَنانَةٍ مُجَلْجِلَةٍ
جَمَعْتَ فِيهَا رَوائِعَ الحِكَمِ

12. With every beloved oral tradition
Drawing to decency from the essence of speech

١٢. بِكُلِّ مَأْثُورَةٍ مُحَبَّبَةٍ
إِلَى النُّهَى مِنْ جَوَامِعِ الكَلِمِ

13. A call awakening the slumberous
For too long, imaginations in dreams

١٣. دَاعِيَةٍ توقِظُ النِّيَامَ فَقَدْ
طَالَ الكَرَى وَالحلُومُ فِي حُلُمِ

14. And it is time for resolves to be unleashed
From that inherited, ancient stillness

١٤. وَآن أَنْ تُطْلَقَ العَزَائِمُ مِنْ
ذَاكَ الجُمُودِ المُوْرُوثِ مِنْ قِدَمِ

15. Our need is for a family founded
On what our age requires of systems

١٥. حَاجَتُنَا أُسْرَةٌ تَقُومُ عَلَى
مَا يَقْتَضِي عَصْرُنَا مِنَ النظُمِ

16. Right for survival, safe,
Its manners and minds from sickness

١٦. صَالِحَةٌ لِلْبَقَاءِ سَالِمَةٌ
جُسُومُهَا وَالعُقُولُ مِنْ سَقَمِ

17. A spouse who understands she who shares
His life with pacts and commitments

١٧. زَوْجٌ يَعِي لِلَّتِي تُشَاطِرُهُ
حَيَاتَهُ بِالعُهُودِ وَالذِّمَمِ

18. And a wife who observes for her and him
With reason and justice the most sacred sanctuaries

١٨. وَذَاتُ بَعْلٍ تَرْعَى لَهَا وَلَهُ
بِالعَقْلِ وَالعَدْلِ أَقْدَسَ الحِرَمِ

19. And a household whose upbringing is tended
No distinction between children in allotment

١٩. وَعَيْلَةٌ يُعْتَنَى بِنَشْأَتِهَا
لا فَرْقَ بَيْنَ الأَولادِ فِي القِسَمِ

20. If the boys are not raised by reasonable women
How can morals and traits be reformed

٢٠. إِنْ لَمْ تُرَبّ البَنينَ عَاقِلَةٌ
كَيفَ صَلاحُ الأَخْلاقِ وَالشِّيَمِ

21. Or if the girls are not guarded by the well-mannered
Where will they take refuge if home crumbles

٢١. أَوْ لَمْ تَصُنْ بَلَهَا مُهَذَّبَةٌ
لاذَ بِرُكْنٍ فِي البَيْتِ مُنْهَدِمِ

22. The family, the small nation, if
It rises, both will stand on solid ground

٢٢. الأُسْرَةُ الأُمَّةُ الصَّغِيرَةُ إِنْ
تَنْهَضْ فَكِلْتَاهُمَا عَلَى قَدَمِ

23. What value is the living whose half is fatigue
And half is in existence like the nonexistent

٢٣. مَا قِيمَة الحَيِّ نِصْفُهُ تَعِبٌ
وَنِصْفُهُ فِي الوُجُودِ كَالعَدَمِ

24. Speak of the modern woman whatever
You wish and don't worry about accusations

٢٤. حَدِّثْ عَنِ المَرْأَةِ الجَدِيدَةِ مَا
شِئْتَ وَلا تَحْفَلْنَ بِالتُّهَمِ

25. And don't fear that the stumbling of those
Who stumble impedes the tide of sweeping change

٢٥. وَلا تَخْفَ أَنْ تَعُوقَ عَثْرَةُ مَنْ
يَعْثُرُ تَيَّارَ حَادِثٍ عَمَمِ

26. Did not Egypt see on her day of awakening
Among the battle lines of foes and aggressors

٢٦. أَمَا رَأَتْ مِصْرُ يَوْمَ هَبَّتِهَا
بَيْنَ حِرَابِ العَدَاةِ وَالخُذُمِ

27. What the strong, safeguarded woman had
Of patience, audacity, and resolve

٢٧. مَا كَانَ لِلْحُرَّةِ الحَصينَةِ مِنْ
صَبْرٍ وَمِنْ جُرْأَةٍ وَمِنْ هِمَمِ

28. How did she not terrify the pigeons or
Be one of the defeated among the ashes

٢٨. وَكَيْفَ لَمْ تَرْهَبِ الحِمَامَ وَلَمْ
تَكُنْ مِنَ الخَائِسَاتِ فِي القَحَمِ

29. And how she shone though knowledge brings her
The best test in championing knowledge

٢٩. وَكَيْفَ أَبْلَتْ وَالعِلمُ يُسْعِدُهَا
خَيْرَ بَلاءٍ فِي نُصْرَةِ العَلَمِ

30. She who seeks for herself a free homeland
Will you accept injustice if she is wronged

٣٠. تِلْكَ الَّتِي تَبْتَغِي لَهَا وَطَناً
حُرّاً أَتَرْضَى بِالضَّيْمِ إِنْ تُضَمِ

31. Then be fair, o people, and be just
And purify your minds of delusions

٣١. فَأَنْصِفُوهَا يَا قَوْمُ تَنْتَصِفُوا
وَأَخْلِصُوا رَأْيكُمْ مِنْ الوَهَمِ
