Has not wisdom forbidden you this, O rulers?
١. الحِكْمُ بِالجَّلْدِ فِي هَذَا الزَّمَانِ أَمَا
نَهَاكُمْ الرُّشْدَ عَنْهُ يَا لأُولي الحِكَمِ
2. The children of our loins - shall we strike them with whips?
Is this how the freedom of nations is won?
٢. أَفْلاذَ أَكْبَادِنَا بِالسَّوْطِ نَضْرِبُهُمْ
أَهَكَذَا تُقْتَنَى حُرِّيَّةُ الأُمَمِ
