1. However little your means may be
Never deprive the destitute of your generosity

2. For when Allah grants you ample bounty
Stinginess is loss, and akin to blasphemy

3. The whitest hands are those you have forwarded
To ward off the blows of dark nights

4. And wealth - the most fecund and abundant -
Is what the servant allocates for the worshipped

5. O you beneficent! May your Master reward you
With overflowing blessings and glorious grace!

6. How often has your bounty given life to the dying
Of hunger, and sustained the newborn babe!

7. How often has it brought sweet sleep to the vigilant
The suffering, and comforted the depressed!

8. How often has it protected a pure honor from suspicion
And spared a stumbling man further disgrace!

9. May your blessings remain guarded
From the guile of grudging souls and envious eyes

10. And may your hopes be fulfilled
With His promised and longed-for reward!
