1. My stand in the Bank of Egypt
I am a poet unconcerned with accounts or self

2. Nothing in it belongs to me, yet I count all its treasures as mine
In as much as they benefit Egypt, I take them as mine

3. If Egypt thrives and it guarantees that
Then indeed, I rejoice at the delicacy of my state

4. Poets are blamed for their delusions
Deceived by the luster of varnished impossibilities

5. And rhythmic repetitions revolving around
A string made for enjoyable rhythm

6. They are sweet to our liking but
Soon lead to boredom

7. And remain far from the course of life
Competing against civilization with ruins

8. If some poetry is like this
Not all poetry is pure fantasy

9. Excusing with prolonged courtship and evading
Blaming and swooning over a gazelle

10. Poetry explores beauty and seeks out
In every path a source of beauty

11. With merit and meaning it has leadership
Revealing truths in the choicest form

12. It is a meadow that nourishes resolve with its breeze
And loans it the shining light of hope in the eye

13. It pierces strong wills in the quest for glory
And prolongs what the eras make short of lifespans

14. Nothing inspires it, and it strikes out flames
From its flints like monumental deeds

15. O Bank of Egypt, born in the renaissance of a nation
For when it built you, it built for independence

16. To strengthen its pillars and bases
Which carried you - the vision of High Egypt was purified

17. A vision made clear to the discerning
In the light of what the Minister of Finance manifested

18. The genius glimpsed in Abkary
In every arrangement he makes and speaks

19. He is the first of the elites it presented
And for that wise and noble guide they follow

20. You made him a moon, oh how many a crescent
In the wake will succeed that crescent!

21. And you fulfilled a promise, preparing them
To lead every field of qualifiers

22. And achieved types for the country, making
Its place above every ascent

23. It is a nation that poured its abundance upon you
And undertook to support you unfailingly

24. And took upon itself, forgoing its liberties
What it had not borne throughout eras

25. Thus you remained, in the aftermath of what it undertook
From the effort of days and vigils of nights

26. The highest of its treasures and most precious
Of everything offered, precious and expensive

27. In fifteen years you accomplished what
None other accomplished in years spent

28. And came of mature manhood, wherever
The qualities of childhood tread levels

29. Asking forgiveness, being forearmed if
War broke out and hostile ones called for combat

30. War, and how sufficient is the one named for it
To rage in it with the ferocity of beasts

31. For victory in it, an omen out of omens
Whose consequences truth has born out

32. Safe from excess - that is the merit of his
Struggle for his country that he is counted among heroes

33. O my people, preserve the Bank of Egypt, for it
Is the fortress of salvation and refuge of hopes

34. In our past glory lies argument against us
If we do not bolster it with present glory

35. It exists from the spirit of Egypt and its affairs
Sublime in truth, excellent in representation

36. For prosperity and thriving, most exalted of institutions
In it, though an impossibility made institution thrives

37. It desires its wellbeing and prominence
In every daring and every endeavor

38. The dawn sky of the East white with its eagles
Circling in mornings and evenings

39. And over its expanses a fluttering cavalry
For cooperation in righteousness, not for fighting

40. It dispatched its ships, which are havens
For people and provision other than first ones

41. Goodness feels intimate for the return and celebrates
The return of the sea that was not easy before

42. Of everything expected to benefit, it gifted
Egypt with well-known delightful examples

43. Stroll around the bank and see how it changed
With modern channels the dilapidated ones

44. And delight your eye with amiable pleasure
That spared the textile merchant and the spinner

45. The shareholders gleam with its profits
At the sparkling of the delighted with bundles

46. Those institutions facilitated whatever
Lawful earning through endeavor they facilitated

47. Bringing affluence, and thousands upon thousands
Of laborers live under its care

48. And graduates competitors to excel
In living by useful occupations

49. God knows how many your homelands' times
Were plagued by unemployment and wanton youths

50. So today is an Eid for decency, pride of which
Is that shabby attire is returned to the like

51. No gathering of people where delight finds no occasion
And the happy are adorned with necklaces

52. It is Egypt's Eid, and exclusivity to it is impossible
No, nor to the era without successors

53. It is the Eid of the kinship of all peoples
In the East after the severing of ties

54. The Eid of its present and its outlook onto
Eras and generations coming in succession

55. Sanctify by this ceremony in it, all of it
From the elite of ministers and judges

56. And from statesmen varying in status
United in omens and prosperity

57. The honor of the President centered among them
The elite and beautiful and perfect moons

58. Still a chest among chests, having been since
His cradle none but intimate with high values

59. Kindness, etiquette and honesty of insight
And loyalty of a master in majesty of ruler

60. Rightfully theirs, his and his two companions What they have among their people of sincere veneration
Did the reticence of his expression occur to you

61. And excellent what is attainable?
And exchange in one genius

62. Between the active youth and speaker
When I seek his description beyond

63. What I seek, with him before me
A mountain the eye wanders overwhelmed by its heights

64. And revelation - its landing place is mountain peaks
A sea, unfazed by any condemnor

65. If it systematically composes companies
His seclusion belongs to God, and from its overlooks

66. He casts his roving gaze upon regions
He tends to the protected territory’s needs to fulfill them

67. And fills what is lacking without asking
What he, alone, maneuvers and plans

68. Exhausts the count of men
You crane towards him, seeing nothing but dew

69. Where worries make fervent with kindling
Abundant are his exploits I repeat mentioning

70. With the heart of a sultan passing through my mind
He gathered two sleeping forms both of whom

71. Rare is the gathering of sleepers into proverbs
Awake, entrusted over the wealth

72. In their reins out of trusts
And transformed for Egypt and its people’s benefit

73. What had not been but for the benefit of wanderers
So if exploitation has a corrupting implication

74. What had been implication of utilization!
Mounting to the highest and most perilous goals

75. Liberating freemen from shackles
Can the masters thus reside in their homelands

76. As if they are vassals of foreigners?!
By the heart of a sultan, with the honor of his glory

77. If not with paternal or maternal relatives
O excellent - high honor suits him

78. Without pretending or boasting
This is the youth among youths, no defender

79. And guiding exemplar without contention
This is the pillar whose burdens

80. Exhaust, though he does not complain of burdens
I praise him for what merits it, loving him

81. For virtue in him, not for favor
If the den - and they are its cubs - is secured

82. With the cubs being reared
Until each generation celebrates its Eid

83. In succession of eras, not conditions
