1. Praise raised to the lofty throne on high
Is due it, and right is made legitimate

2. That dais is the eye of God overlooking it
Good thrives in it, and evil is suppressed

3. Its origin established in the glory of its rising place
And linked to good fortune in the heavens by its branches

4. The East is its point of rising, the West its setting place
Pride in its possession fully contained

5. Its ruler the noblest of lineages from of old
The Banu al-Husayn, the kings, the outstanding leaders

6. Innovator of glory among them and follower
Bearer of praise and recipient of tributes

7. They exchanged the kingdom until it was inherited by the youth
Deaf to the jeopardy that endangered the kingdom

8. So the Keeper of All preserved it with what
He resolved, while the heart remained detached

9. And settled its affairs until it was established through him, and the throne
Was protected in its fortress, access denied

10. Raiding horsemen crept in the darkness
To the protected ground, and the path remained blocked

11. Never did he wish for a time to repel their pillaging
And authority is what the Truth desired, obediently followed

12. The people awakened from a slumber that was past
Knowledge faces the future, and ignorance is dispelled

13. The Arab Maghreb today revived
Well and strong, while the West is anguished

14. A refuge survived which we feared lost
And the enemies' hopes were abandoned, frustrated

15. A strong one may be wronged and his hopes limited
But a weak one is not wronged, for he has none

16. How many hunters hunted prey to feed themselves
And fighters who truly fought and were struck down

17. Evil is the prey, a bone that entices no covetousness
That excites the maw of a wolf famished

18. O Keeper of All, may God protect you forever
Your command is approved and your words heard

19. Your radiant gift arrived, and its signs
Show the pottery was enhanced by your gift

20. No embellished beauty matches its lineage’s merit
Nor does its artlessness match any adornment

21. Its flaws as it counts life’s duration decreasing
Increase it, and thereby give joy to the soul

22. A hand of munificence came from a benevolent one
To bring life, so if it punishes, retaliation is forbidden

23. A hand that returns hostility with eyes that weep
If it releases its bounty, it is an endless spring

24. O guardian of protected lands, reason is its wall
Sword unsheathed and spear upright

25. You rule souls that are not your subjects
By protecting the kingdom from those who would ruin it

26. If safeguarding that kingdom from danger were purchasable
We would not begrudge it, even if our sons were sold

27. A kingdom, outstanding of Arabs, matchless
Its fragments of glory collected into one

28. Perhaps its followers will heed its oneness
And diversions will not distract them from it

29. Lies fortune, and in neglecting it, collapse and wailing
They are the noble, disdaining blame, we honor them

30. Lest any blame or rebuke attach itself to them
May they endure, and the glory of their master endure
