1. I heard with the ear of my heart a voice of reproach
Whose teardrops flow

2. Saying to its people it is more just
That I feel estranged among my own folk

3. Am I not she who with my blood and soul
Nurtured and raised every child?

4. I am the Arabic woman whose excellence is witnessed
Must my excellence be obscured today?

5. When people look down on the language
The fate of the people is lost, tell me

6. What is the claim of unity in countries
And the claim of independence tied together?

7. Corruption of speech indicates incapacity
Can righteousness accompany it?

8. Structures of protection, you are my progeny
If you deny me, would you be my progeny?

9. And you, its youth, if I wronged you
I seek your forgiveness, for estrangement is my estrangement

10. The foremost assail me, denying my favor
And my origin's sanctity did not restrain them

11. In the Quran is a miracle which appeared
Adorned in its light, the finest adornment

12. And for scholars and literati in what
Its highest goals furnished my paths

13. If there are difficulties in my words
Do not judge my many by my few

14. Has any language, ancient or modern
Been counted with as many virtues as me?

15. O mother of languages, none but me
Wronged you with ingratitude and ignorance

16. To you is the blessed return, for you are a sun
And none has veiled your rays but a shadow

17. You called and there came from all regions
Champions of wisdom and nobility

18. With an opinion of you that will restore
Honored to the highest position

19. Their poetry sheds light in every valley
And their prose blossoms in every field

20. And Taha led those who responded
Preparing a renaissance in the beginning

21. With his abundance of literature and art
And his store of intellect and transmission

22. It pours fertility like the Nile
And revives farming in sadness and plains

23. It awakens in the youth of the age a spirit
And left a yearning short of prayers

24. So how would it be if he waged a war
Against the bid'ahs of misguidance or misguiders?
