1. You pass alone amid the crowds
Immersed in your poetic reverie

2. As if their clamor with its din
Were a cradle's rocking for that thought

3. On you shines a halo of knowledge that
Inclines with its verses from veneration

4. If they spurn your noble worth, then do not
Regard their esteem, nor even know

5. And if they deny your ascendance, then do not
Lower a wing from the halo of the eagle

6. And uncover for them your hoary soul from
A beacon in the gloomy hazes
