1. 'Ali has a house amidst the desert,
a piece of heaven planted on the ground.

2. He spent the night facing towards Allah,
his brilliant face inclined in devotion.

3. Blessed with abundant intimacy as he settled alone
among visiting angels who guarded him.

4. A body lies at the edge of darkest ignorance
while his soul dwells in the brightest lights.

5. O Father of the Secret, from the villages of western Egypt
dwell humbly for Allah among sincere devotees -

6. amidst what luxury the singing-girls possess
a building was made aspiring to high heavens.

7. Through 'Ali you became the home of glory
and the shrine of saints and princes.

8. Through the virtuous prophet above all pride -
of all the lands, you are most deserving of greatness.

9. Allah honored 'Ali in life
and through him you gained dignity.

10. Through the noble father of fathers,
custodian of all genealogies.

11. Through the Godwary free of defects,
a model of avoidance for the pious.

12. He whom no revelation came but
the qualities of prophets did not elude him.

13. A generosity that exceeded all hopes
before which all seekers fell short.

14. A shyness over courage - not to mention
the qualities of courage and shyness.

15. He brought peace and reform among his people,
who lived in chastity and prosperity.

16. He protected their honor and protected their sanctuary
from corruption, misguidance, and misery.

17. He lived among them as though he were one of them
while, had he wished, he'd be counted among saints.

18. He pursued a life of guidance and assumed
the role of a guiding star in the darkness.

19. Leaving as heir his noble son 'Ali
to kindness, glory, and loyalty.

20. O Father of Glory, none like you dies
with 'Ali your heir-apparent among the living.

21. Thus eternal bounties live
in a Paradise with no evening.'
