1. A nation led astray cannot be misguided
When righteous judges are appointed in Egypt

2. The happiest of all people is a people who have
Truth firmly established and injustice dispelled

3. Ears overflowing with the precious pearls that have brought salvation
Eyes now calmed by that deliverance

4. That outstanding group which has grown
The traits of success being intelligence and steadfastness

5. It did not cease striving towards its goal
While hope and patience were its support

6. Rising up or settled down until the sign of justice emerged
Made clear by a divine manifestation

7. So it seized its opportunity
As the gallant seizes opportunities

8. It made a splendid defense of its pond
Its words flowing with emotion

9. No, by my life, its sanctuary is not lost
And in hard times it has defenders

10. Honorably, o you who declare it innocent
For in truth there is no time limit on justice

11. What living being has ever attained
Immunity in their rule from erring

12. And who revealed from on high is completely
Fair in judgement, definitive in reason

13. Given reason but not passion
Knowing who are innocent or criminal

14. And most discerning of people in his estimation
Though many ambiguities clouded it

15. Declare that one most pure whenever
Suspicions turn away from certainty

16. O eminent poet, valiant man who
Has had stones polished by tribulations

17. Return to your esteemed position
And let Egypt live in humble circumstances

18. Egypt of one free united people
Not the one humiliated with its people scattered

19. Return and be unique in an age
Whose word is the word when the upright doubt

20. For what anguish you endured
Gave you the best that life can give
