1. Farouk lives, Egypt's youthful pride,
Abode of morals and literary tide.
١. عَاشَ فَارُوقُ مِصْرَ فَخْرُ الشَّبابِ
وَمَلاَذُ الأخْلاَقِ وَالآدَابِ
2. All knowledge and art look up to him,
Exalted heed and favor beside.
٢. كُلُّ عِلْمٍ وَكُلُّ فَنٍّ لَهُ مِنْهُ
التِفَاتٌ عَالٍ وَفَضْلٌ رَابِ
3. A rising like the sun's that gives life
To hearts' fruits and intellects wide.
٣. طَلْعَةٌ مِثْلُ طَلْعَةِ الشَّمسِ تُحْيِي
ثَمَرَاتِ القُلُوبِ وَالأَلْبَابِ
4. What bliss for his people to behold him
Dawning between them without divide!
٤. أَيُّ سَعْدٍ لِشَعْبِهِ أنْ يَرَاهُ
طَالِعاً بَيْنَهُ وَمَا مِنْ حِجَابِ
5. What ease! Generosity's his duty,
He spared no pains past bounds to chide.
٥. أَيُّ رَاجِ وَالجُودُ حَقٌّ عَلَيْهِ
لَمْ يُصِبْ مِنْهُ مَا وَرَاءَ النِّصابِ
6. What matter he tended, he did not quit
Till highest peak was gained in stride,
٦. أَيُّ شَأْنٍ رَعَاهُ لَمْ يَبْلُغِ
الشَّأوَ الْمُعَلَّى وَلَمْ يَكُنْ بِعُجَابِ
7. No stopping to rest or gaze about.
The mind works on, each path to ride
٧. يَعْمَلُ الفِكْرُ سَالِكاً كُلَّ نَهْجٍ
لِلْمَرَاقِي وَفَاتِحاً كُلَّ بَابِ
8. Opening vistas however steep or long
Till utmost summit be glorified.
٨. هَذِهِ فِرْقَةٌ تَدَارَكَهَا العَطْفُ
فَعَادَتْ مَتِينَةَ الأَسْبَابِ
9. This band renewed by his kindly care
Is firmly jointed, fortified.
٩. يَبْرُزُ المُولَعُونَ بِالفَنِّ فِيهَا
طُرُفاً مِنْ مَوَاهِبِ الوَهَّابِ
10. Art lovers throng to the fore in it,
Gifted talents the Lord did provide.
١٠. فِيهِمُ الرَّاسِخُ المُدَرَّبُ يَتْلُو
تِلْوَةُ نَابِتٌ نَضِيرُ الإِهَابِ
11. The seasoned adept intones with art
As sapling worthy to spread and bide.
١١. مِنْ هُوَاةِ التَّمثيلِ يَرْجِعُ
بالتَّارِيخِ َأدْرَاجَهُ مَدَى الأَحْقَابِ
12. Of acting zealots some harking back
Through history's annals far and wide,
١٢. وَمُحِبِّي الأَمْثَالِ يَضْرِبُهَا
التَّالُونَ وَالسَّابِقُونَ لِلأَعْقَابِ
13. While proverb fanciers vie in striking
Similes new and fresh beside,
١٣. يَبْتَغُونَ الكَمَالَ فِي ظِلِّ فَارُوقَ
وَقَدْرُ النَّجاحِ قَدْرُ الطِّلاَبِ
14. Seeking perfection in Farouq's shade,
To each aspirant full measure supplied.
١٤. وَطَرِيقُ الكَمَالِ وَعْرٌ ولك
نَّ مَداهُ مُذَلِّلٌ لِلصَّعابِ
15. Though steep the path to perfection, still
His power will vanquish obstruction's tide.
١٥. أَيُّهَا الزَّائِرُ الْعَظِيمُ أَثَابَ اللهُ
مِنكَ الجَميلَ خَيْرَ الثَّوَابِ
16. Great visitor whom God reward
With good, best recompense provide!
١٦. كُلُّ شُكْرٍ يَصُوغُهُ الرَّوْضُ لاَ
يُوفِي وإِن جَلَّ مِنَّة للسِّحابِ
17. All thanks composed in garden beds
However profuse, gratitude's tide
١٧. وَلَعَلَّ السُّكوتَ أَبلَغُ فِي الحَمْدِ
وَأَوْفَى وَفِيهِ فَصْلُ الخِطَابِ
18. Falls short. Silence may better plead
Our cause and farewell betide.
١٨. عَاشَ فَارُوقُ مِصْرَ فَخرُ الشَّبابِ
ومِلاذُ الأَخلاَقِ والآدَابِ
19. Long live Farouq, Egypt's youthful pride,
Abode of morals and literary tide!
١٩. يَا مَلِيكَاً حَمَى بِهِ اللهُ مِصْراً
مِنْ نُكُولِ الدُّنْيَا وَسَوْطِ العَذَابِ
20. A king by whom God did Egypt spare
World's instability and scourge beside.
٢٠. يَرِدُ العَالَمُ الحَمِيمَ وَأَمَّا
وِرْدُهَا فَهْوَ مِنْ نِطَافٍ عِذَابِ
21. Let the world cherish the bosom friend
While for the foe is naught but pains to bide.
٢١. لِلْفِنُونِ ازْدِهَارُهَا وَالرَّزَايَا
غَافِلاَتٌ وَالأَمْنُ في اسْتِتْبَابِ
22. For arts to flourish and dissoluteness
In happy order to be sanctified
٢٢. ذَاكَ مِنْ عَبْقَرِيَّةِ العَاهِلِ الهَادِي
وَلِلْرَّأْيِ غَيْرُ فِعْلِ الحِرَابِ
