1. My care for you abounds when you depart
And my concern surrounds you on your return

2. Majesty veils you when you go out
While nobility reveals you in your veil

3. How beautiful a veil is with its trinkets
When you allow the rays to gleam through your veil

4. You are the sun in kindness and beauty
Showing us the wondrous marvelous sign

5. From its lights guidance is given
And from its favors come the clouds' pearls

6. Wondrous that you dress yourself and don
What you have woven and tailored of robes

7. You have come, and all those of high renown
Walk with utmost esteem in your procession

8. Around you a nation whose eyes find joy
In your face, after yearning anticipation

9. They kiss in spirit a hand which has poured on them
From its springs a draught of sweet wine

10. And has granted it the kindest fellowship
Seeking to fulfill its every wish and whim

11. You have attained every share of virtues
And have not veered from the right way

12. So whatever bounty you were granted
Was shared by your chastity, like war spoils

13. Thus, virtues of character rise above
Any command, while greed is left desperate

14. When alms-giving reaches its due amount
You exceed multiples of that due amount

15. So that, if sins were counted by the nights
Your gifts would match them in the reckoning

16. What feats which have given
Refuge on days of woe in their havens

17. Sheltering the refugee, curing the sick
Saving the desperate from his torment

18. And supporting the нужд with every means—
Strongholds where all may seek protection

19. And raising a noble generation with righteousness—
Not growing up in numbers' increase—

20. When hope was far, they attained it
Near, facile, and with effort slight

21. Glories chronicled in time's book
Written in ink unadorned by henna

22. They will be recited, pleasing those who recount them
As though they were reciting scripture's verses

23. May God protect you, pride of the lovely gazelles
With perception and natural intelligence

24. I pledged to you covenants upon my soul
Tethered to morals of firm resolve

25. I will preserve the right of its pasture
With a preservation lasting as my life lasts

26. Old age may overtake my determination
Yet through it I regain the vigor of my youth

27. I answer its call time and again
With time's ear hearing my reply

28. Pure intent flows smoothly from it
While hypocrisy is too difficult for it

29. It observes honesty in its claims
And disdains the false flattery of praise

30. By God, I do not hope for any reward
From others for it, however long I live

31. In praise, I am no sycophant
In witness I am no flatterer

32. To wish you well-being always
And may you remain lofty in station forever

33. For that rank praise is due
And from that rank blame is made remote
