The Book came with a truthful

1. The Book came with a truthful
Messenger conveying,

2. He delivered the message and showed
The sorrows of the narration,

3. But what grieves me is news
That you described to me clearly,

4. A description in which you went to lengths
With eloquence and artistry,

5. Oh what a calamity,
That made hearts grieve,

6. Was that Sarah whose beauty
Used to captivate us,

7. And reason was a crown,
Adorning her forehead,

8. And modesty was a glow,
Veiling her eyes,

9. And every smile of hers
Was a precious gift,

10. And any harsh word,
That listeners would catch,

11. She died a victim of her passion
Before reaching twenty,

12. She wasn't wed as a bride,
Longed for by suitors,

13. She wasn't adorned, and no poets
Gathered around her,

14. She didn't attain a day's rule
In which eyes would rest,

15. The calamity was too grave,
To be softened by one like her,

16. And it was removing light
And leaving behind clay,

17. Corruption crept upon her
With the tread of an ambush,

18. And it treated the soul until
It made lawful a protected honor,

19. So it was the vilest disgrace,
And the evilest shame,

20. It made life a loss,
And honor a debt,

21. If only she had died protecting
Her chastity, how she would have been carried,

22. As precious to mankind,
That eyes turn to her,

23. Her friends would weep for her,
And singers would lament,

24. And everyone would raise their voices
Eulogizing her,

25. But today she is not
One for us to bewail,

26. Nor a bride aspired to
By clans and families,

27. She has become a tomb,
In which chastity lies buried,

28. She sold beauty for money,
A losing business,

29. And money remains enslaving
Mankind,

30. It misguided her, and it had misguided
The rightly-guided before,

31. So look to what remains
Of her beauty, making itself seen,

32. It is only what we do not want
To have been,

33. A rose that turned to embers
At the touch of the corrupt,

34. A perfume that poison makes
For sniffing souls,

35. A light that hands a lantern
To discerning eyes,

36. A mirror of chaste nature
That represents the sinful,

37. A cup whose wine makes my verse
Intoxicated with its drinkers,

38. A memory of sorrow for beauty
That once contained virtues,

39. Then it transgressed and became -
In the eyes of onlookers - empty,

40. Like a garden in which
Dear ones once settled,

41. Then they left it, and it remained
Halting the grieving.
