1. Oh people of Ghassan, descendants of Ya'rub
Your forefathers and mine were great men
١. أَلاَ يَا بَنِي غَسَّانَ مِنْ وُلْدِ يَعْرُبٍ
وَأَجْدَادُكُمْ أَجْدَادِيَ الْعُظَمَاءُ
2. Your brother though dressed differently
Has regained the fine, original attire
٢. أَخُوكُمْ وَقَدْ أَضْحَى غَرِيباً بِزَيِّهِ
أعَادَ لَهُ السَّمتَ الأَصيلَ رِدَاءُ
3. Stop and look at me wrapped in a cloak
Imposing, proud in my walk
٣. قِفُوا وَانْظُروني في العِبَاءَةِ رَافِلاً
مَهِيباً وَبِي في مِشْيَتِي خَيَلاَءُ
4. See how excellence clothes an empty man
And how glory can be a garment
٤. ترَوْا كَيْفَ تَكْسُو رَبَّةُ الْفَضْلِ عَاطِلاً
وَكَيْفَ يَكُونُ الْمَجْدُ وَهْوَ كِسَاءُ
5. Made of cane, so fine it dazzles the eyes
And delicate wool like a floating mist
٥. بِهَا قَصَبٌ تَخْشَى العُيونُ بَرِيقَهُ
وَصُوفٌ رَقِيقٌ حِيكَ مِنْهُ هَبَاءُ
6. May God reward with all good, he who bestowed it
For who else can reward, if not Him?
٦. جَزَى اللهُ كُلَّ الخَيْرِ مَنْ أَنْعَمَتْ بِهَا
وَهَلْ عِنْدَ مَسْؤُولٍ سِوَاهُ جَزَاءُ
