حبا دعاة البر بالإنسان

1. O callers to righteousness through mankind,
And to dignity, O finest of brothers,

١. حُبَّا دُعَاةً البِرِّ بالإنْسَانِ
وَكَرَامَةً يَا صَفْوَةَ الإخْوانِ

2. If great virtue is mentioned, you suffice,
As a group of strength, removing rancor,

٢. إنْ يُذْكَرِ الْفَضَلُ العَظِيمُ فَحَسْبُكُمْ
جَمْعُ الْقُوَى وَإزَالَةُ الشَّنَانِ

3. What unity like the unity of nobles
Who have clasped their arms around benevolence,

٣. أيُّ اتِّحَادِ كَاتِّحَادِ أعِزَّةٍ
عَقَدُوا خَنَاصِرَهُمْ عَلَى الإحْسَانِ

4. I respond whenever a caller to concord in the country calls me,
The literati of Egypt and her prominent orators,

٤. لَبَّيْكُمُ إنِّي مُجِيبٌ كُلَّمَا
دَاعِي وِفَاقٍ فِي الْبِلاَدِ دَعَاني

5. And the trusted among the people of merit and knowledge,
This sanctuary of yours, for it there is a great meaning,

٥. أُدَبَاءَ مِصْرَ وَنَابِهِي خُطَبَائِهَا
وَثِقَاتِ أَهْلِ الْفَضْلِ وَالعِرْفَانِ

6. Among its people, grand is its affair,
And I almost cannot fully thank you,

٦. إينَاسُكمْ هَذَا الْحِمَى عِيدٌ لَهُ
فِي أَهْله مَعْنًى كَبِيرُ الشانِ

7. If I recited verses of thankfulness,
Groups in which joy has excelled, an assembly

٧. وَأَكَادُ لاَ أُوفِي لَكُمْ شُكْرَانَهَا
لَوْ صُغْتُ آيَاتٍ مِنَ الشُّكْرَانِ

8. Shining which delights the eyes,
There is nothing in you but an Egyptian nation,

٨. زُمَرٌ بِهَا اسْتَبَقَ السُّرُورُ وَمَجْمَعٌ
زَاهٍ تَقَرُّ بِحُسنِهِ العَيْنَانِ

9. O Egypt, and may the tongue of the critic be cut off,
How excellent a sanctuary for one who belongs and grows

٩. مَا فِيكِ إلاَّ أُمْةٌ مِصرِيَّةٌ
يَا مِصرُ وَلْيُبْتَرْ لِسَانُ الشَّانِي

10. From the principle of the two Harams,
If the foreigner finds with you hospitality,

١٠. نِعْمَ الحِمَى لِمَنِ انْتَمَى وَلِمَنْ نَمَى
مِنْ مَبْدَأِ المَدَيِنَّةِ الهَرَمَانِ

11. He has not found it in the most fertile of lands,
How can another be more worthy? They have become your sons,

١١. إنْ يَلْقَ فِيكِ الأَجْنَبِيُّ ضِيَافَةً
لَمْ يَلْقَهَا فِي أسْمَحِ البُلْدَانِ

12. And their wealth, a homeland other than you and no second place of return,
Those who expend souls for you lightly,

١٢. كَيْفَ الأُولَى أَضَحْوَا بَنِيكِ وَمَالَهُمْ
وَطَنٌ سِوَاكِ وَلاَ مَآبٌ ثَاني

13. And the treasures of the world without prices,
And despite the differences in origins, all of them

١٣. ألبَاذِلُونَ لَكِ النُّفُوسَ رَخِيصَةً
وَنَفَائِسَ الدُّنْيَا بِلاَ أَثْمَانِ

14. Are devoted in their love for her, self-sacrificing,
By God, differences and tribes are not

١٤. وَعَلَى التَّبَايُنِ فِي المَنَابِتِ كُلُّهُمْ
بَرٌّ بِهَا فِي حُبِّهَا مُتَفَانِ

15. More precious than the sacrifice of the gallant youths,
But for a noble life it has been realized

١٥. تَاللهِ مَا لِلتَّفْرِقَاتِ وَلاَ القِلَى
أغْلَى الفِدَاءَ أعِزَّةُ الفِتْيَانِ

16. In it the hopes for ascendancy and desires,
So may Egypt live free, rising to

١٦. بَل لِلحَيَاةِ كَرِيمَةً قَدْ حُقِّقَتْ
فِيهَا رَغَائِبُ لِلعُلَى وَأمَانِي

17. Her goals in felicity and safety,

١٧. فَلْتَحْيَا مِصْرٌ حُرَّةً تَسْمُو إلى
غَايَاتِهَا فِي غِبْطَةٍ وَأَمانِ
