من صحب الحق لا يبالي

إن المجاهد في نار وفي نور
The mujahid is in fire and in light
يساعد تعظيم الإزار ردائي
My robe helps maximize my loincloth
ألم تدر أني واحد وكثير
Do you not know that I am one and many
يا بدر بادر إلى المنادي
O full moon, hasten to the caller
من عز ذل إذا طال الزمان به
Sweetly bitter the hours when fate
إن دارا لست فيها تعزى
A house where you are not honored
إني لأجهل ذات من علمي بها
I know not one whose knowledge I know
تغيرت لما أن تغير لي المجرى
When my path was changed
إن لله بالحجاز يمينا
Indeed God has in Hejaz a right hand
إن المقرب من يستعبد الدولا
The one brought near who enslaves regimes
شهدت الذي قد مهد الأرض لي فرشا
I witnessed the One who spread the earth out as a carpet
وأما زمان الصوم فهو سمي من
The time of fasting is exalted by virtue
رأى البرق شرقيا فحن إلى الشرق
He saw the lightning flash in the east, so he leaned towards the east
بذي سلم والدير من حاضر الحمى
With a greeting of peace, from the monastery near the sanctuary,
قف بالطلول الدارسات بلعلع
Stand by the abandoned abodes at Al-Lal'a
بأثيلات النقا سرب قطا
With the slender-waisted fair maidens a flock of wild cats
بأبي الغصون المائلات عواطفا
With the leaning boughs compassionate
ثلاث بدور ما يزن بزنية

أحبابنا أين هم
Where are our loved ones
هزم النور عسكر الأسحار
The light has defeated the army of the dark
ما فاز بالتوبة إلا الذي
None has attained repentance, but he
لي الأرض الأريضة والسماء
The earth is humble for me, and the sky
إن الذين يبايعونك إنهم
Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you
وليت أمور الخلق إذ صرت واحدا
If only I controlled the affairs of creation when I was one
وافى كتاب ولينا الغزال
Our master's book has come, the gazelle
إذا علم الله الكريم سريرتي
If the Generous God knew my innermost being
قلمي ولوحي في الوجود يمده
My pen and tablet exist by His decree,
وحق الهوى إن الهوى سبب الهوى
Where have you come from, oh object of desire
لنا همته إن الثريا لدونها
Our ambition, though the Pleiades are out of reach
ألا إن وحي الله في كل كائن
Behold! The revelation of God in everything exists
إذا تجردت عن وجودي
If I shed my existence
فأبدى وجود الوجد ما كان يكتم
So he revealed the affection that he used to conceal
نكحت نفسي بنفسي
I married myself to myself
ألبست من هوى ذاتي خرقة الخضر
I am clad in a cloak of my own passion
ألبست بنتي دنيا
I wore my daughter the dress of this world
هي لما لبستها سبحت
When I donned it, it glorified
جميلة ما لها عديل
She has no equal in her beauty
خليلي إني للشريعة حافظ
My friend, I abide by the sacred law
وإن لبس الجرموق وهو مسافر

فمن شرف النبي على الوجود

لقد أبصرت عيني رجالا تبرقعوا
I saw men wearing veils
عجبت من بحر بلا ساحل

ما لقومي عن حديثي في عما
My people turn from my discourse in blindness,
ما لنا علة في الحكم ثابتة

الجود أولى به والفقر أولى بنا
Generosity suits Him, and poverty suits us
تضلعت من شرب روي بلا شرب
I'm drunk with drinking from a cheek though my lips are dry
هنيت بالشهر بل هنى بي الشهر
I congratulated the month, but the month congratulated me,
أنتم لكل فضيلة أهل
You are worthy of every virtue
ذلل وجودك لا تكن ذا عزة
Humble your existence, be not proud
كبرت بملك الملك إذ كان من ملكي
I gained control like the King when his kingdom was mine
كل شيء بقضاء وقدر
Everything is by predestination and fate
الوهم يصلح ما الألباب تفسده
Illusion amends what minds corrupt
وجودي وجود العارفين لأنهم

وبين صلاة الفذ والجمع سبعة

فلله قوم في الفراديس مذ أبت
For God has a people in paradise since they refused
إني العماء ولا عماء لذاتي
I am the blindness, though my essence sees,
يا صاح إن القلوب
O companion, hearts have become
يا آل عمران إن الله فضلكم
O family of Imran, indeed Allah has favored you
رأيت سما لاح بأفق مبين
I saw a sky shining on the horizon
زمن يمر بقوتي وشبابي
Time passes with my strength and youth
عجبت من رجم نار يحرق النارا

My identity, secrets and limbs are the Truth

خصصت بعلم لم يخص بمثله
I was endowed with knowledge unmatched

Between nature and command, an existence is born
كل فعل كان مني حكمه

رضيت برضوى روضة ومناخا

نحن حزب الله من يلحقنا

وتثمين أصناف الزكاة محقق
The assessment of the types of zakat is correct
ضاق النطاق وضاق الشبر والباع
The space narrowed, the land tract shrank, the horizons closed in,
الكبرياء رداء من سجدت له
Arrogance is the cloak of those who prostrate to it
لما بدا السر في فؤادي
When the secret shone in my heart,
يذكرني حال الشبيبة والشرخ
The state of youth and vigor
إذا زلزلت أرض الجسوم تراها
When the ground of bodies shook, you see it
إذا ما التقينا للوداع حسبتنا
When we meet to bid farewell, we seem
ألم بمنزل أحباب لهم ذمم
My abode neighbors the dwellings of friends with enduring ties
بذكر الله تزداد الذنوب
With God's remembrance, sins increase
إذا بدت سبحات الوجه فاستتر
When the radiance of the face appears, veil it,
قل لامرىء رام إدراكا لخالقه
Tell whoever aspires to know their Creator
إن وافق النجم السعيد هلاله
If the auspicious star aligns with its crescent
شمس الهوى في النفوسِ لاحت
The sun of love has risen in souls
قمر شاهد الغيوب عيانا
The moon witnessed the unseen clearly
أهل الهلال لشهر الصيام
The people of the new moon for the month of fasting
من كان يبطش بالرحمن فهو فتى
He who shows mercy, though his strength allows him to punish, is the best of men.
يا صاحب الأذن إن الأذن ناداكا
O you who have an ear, the ear has called out to you
الرجل إن جاريته في فعله
Man, if his conduct becomes excessive
لطيبة ظبي ظبى صارم
For a gazelle with stern, gazing eyes
صحت بالكوكب المنير عشاء
I woke at dawn to the radiant planet,

The work of ambition is sublime
قل كيف يسكن قلب لا يحيط به

كيف يخشى فؤاد من ليس يخشى
How can a heart fear one who fears naught
فما أبالي إذا نفسي تساعدني

ولما جل عتبي حل غيبي
When my reproach was unveiled, my absence solved,

He made all beings into a single essence
طلعت بين أذرعات وبصرى
She emerged between arms as my sight
انظر إلى العرش على مائة
Behold the throne upon a hundred
ناحت مطوفة فحن حزين
The she-camel moaned sadly,
أنا عنقاء الوجود المشترك
I am the universal being's graceful neck
حمامة البان بذات الغضا
The dove of the wilderness in her solitude
دع الظن واعلم أن للظن آفة
Dismiss conjecture, and know that conjecture harbors malice,
يا أولي الألباب يا أولي النهى
O wise men, O people of reason
قل إلى الكوكب السعيد أمامي
Say to the happy star before me
فررت إلى الرحمن أبغي التصرفا
I fled to the Most Merciful seeking control,
يطوف بالبيت من يدين له
He circumambulates the House for the one to whom he is devoted
إني عجبت لصب من محاسنه
I am amazed by a youth whose perfections
وحافظ على الشفع الكريم ووتره

Hasten to equip Arabism, intending
رعى الله طيرا على بانة
God tended a bird on a lofty branch
ليس إلى العلم بي سبيل
I have no way to knowledge,
الله يعلم أني لست أذكره
God knows I do not mention Him
استغفر الله من علم أفوه به
I seek forgiveness from Allah for knowledge I have uttered
علوم الذوق ليس لها طريق
The sciences of taste have no path
جدد السعد منزلا
Renew the joy, a home
توهمت من أهواه خارج صورتي
I imagined my beloved to be beyond my image
قد بدا للعين ما
What the eye began to see
ولما رأيت الكون يعلو ويسفل
When I saw the universe rising and falling,
يا من إذا أبصرته
O you whom when I see
أقول وعندي انني لست قائلا
I say, and I know that I am not a speaker
واحد العين الذي نعرفه
The One of clear sight whom we know
إذا كنت محسانا فليتك تسلم
If you have been virtuous, may you be secure,
الحق ما بين معلوم ومجهول
The truth lies between the known and the unknown
فلا تتعب ولا تتعب
Do not worry, do not fret,
إن السماء برجمها محفوظة
The sky with its stars is protected
الوحي علم الكون إلا أنه
Revelation comprehends the universe, though
من يتخذ غير الإله جليا
He who takes other than God as an intimate friend,
لا تندمن على خير تجود به
Do not regret the good you have given freely,
عم بالغفران أصحاب الذنوب
He forgives the sins of all
إذا غار عبد للإله وقد رأى
When a servant despairs of God, having seen
قد سمع الله قول عبده
God has heard His servant's word
لولا مطالبتي لم يثقل اليوم
Had I not asked, this day would not be heavy
مشيئة العبد من مشيئة الله
The will of the servant is from the will of Allah
قد أقسم الله لي في سورة البلد
God has sworn to me in Surat Al-Balad
التب من صفة اليدين لأنها
Giving is a trait of the hands for they
انظر إلي ولا تنظر إلى حالي
Look at me, and look not at my state,
ألا إن أمر الله أمر رسوله
Indeed, the command of Allah is the command of His Messenger

There is no choice for those who witnessed

Look at the truth from the meaning of names
إن الوجود وجود الحق ليس لنا
Indeed, existence is the existence of the Truth, we have

باب المعارف مفتوح لقارعه
The door of knowledge is open for the one who knocks

في فؤاد العارفين بصر
The enlightened have insight
إن الإله الذي قد
The God who is exalted
ولست لمن أجالده بغير
I do not fight against one with enmity
يقرر المنعم النعما إذا شاء
The Bestower decrees blessings when He wills
إني رأيت بظني

تتابعت الأرسال من كل جانب
Revelations came from every side
العين واحدة والأمر واحدة
The eye is one, and the matter is one,
والله لا ناله مما أنا سبد
By God, he cannot attain what I have attained,
ألا إنني العالم الأبخل
Indeed, I am the world's most stingy
جاء المبشر بالرسالة يبتغي
The messenger came with the message seeking
روح يذكر والأنثى طبيعته
The spirit recalls its feminine nature,
صفات الأولياء تزول عنهم
The qualities of the righteous depart from them,

It is destiny that controls all things
فمن نام عن وقت الصلاة فأنه

إني أفاديك يا من عز مطلبه
I will help you my friend, whose desire is dear
الناس كلهمو أعداء ما جهلوا
All people are enemies of what they are ignorant of.
رأيت ذكورا في إناث سواحر
I saw males in the form of sorceress females
عيون الزهر يبدو من خباها
The eyes of flowers appear from their hiding
إذا ما ذكرت الله في السرو الجهر
If I mention God in secret and aloud
في مهمه قطع السرى أنياطها
In the task of cutting the bonds of fate
ما جنة الخلد غير قلبي
My heart alone is the eternal paradise,
ما لقوم إذا تفكرت فيهم
What a people when I think of them
عقلي به فوق عقل الناس كلهم
My mind surpasses all other minds,
لما رأيت وجودي ما رأيت عمى
When I saw my existence, I did not see blindness
ما في الوجود الذي تدريه من أحد
None in existence knows what another knows,
فكم دعوتك يا عيني ولم تجب
How often I called you, O my eyes, and you did not answer,
أرسلت ما أرسلت من أدمعي
The tears I shed, I sent as a reminder
ليس التعجب من شخص وعى فدعا
It is not surprising that someone woke up and called out,
كل ما يحويه ميزان
All that the scale contains
من طهر الله لم يلحق به دنس
He whom Allah has purified, no filth can stain him
ألا إن كشفي مثبت كل معتقد
Behold, my test results are confirming every belief
لله قوم لهم في كل حادثة
God has a people for whom in every event
إذا الأمر لم يمكن فكنه فإنه
If the matter cannot be done, then pretend it is done
ولولا وجود الرب لم تكن عيننا
Without the existence of the Lord, our eyes would not have been
بنفسي الذي يلقى المحق وما لقى
With my own soul that meets what is right and did not meet,
ما والدي إلا الذي يحكم
My father is none but He who rules
أعرض عن الخير ما استطعتا
Turn away from virtue as much as you can
العلم بالله لا ينال
Knowledge of God cannot be attained
إني وسعت الكيان طرا
I expanded the abode widely
القلب منزل من سواه واتخذه
The heart is the home of whoever other than Him has made it his,
أرى المطلوب يكبر أن يصابا
I see the desired grows that it suffers
إذا كان كل اسم يسمى وينعت
If every name is named and described
قسما بسورة العصر
By the surah of Al-'Asr
إني رأيت براهين العقول على
I saw proofs of minds denying bias
إذا نطق الكتاب بما حواه
When the book speaks with what it contains
للحق فينا تصاريف وأشياء
Truth has its ways and means within us,
عجبت لمن قد كان عين هويتي
I wonder at one who was the eye of my identity
من سأل الله في أمور
He who asked of God for matters
قد جرىفي مثلنا مثل
A similar fate has befallen us
يا قرة العين با مدى أملي
O delight of my eyes, how great is my hope
يدل الجزؤ من مضمون كوني
A part intimates the essence of being,
إلهي وفقني إلا كل ما يرضى
My God, align me with all that pleases you,
النور ستر الذي الأظلام تحجبه
The light is a veil that darkness hides from us
يا لائمي إن لم تكن عيننا
O you who blame me, if our eyes
إن الإله الذي يرى وتدركه
The God whom eyes can see, that belief
خليلي لا تعجلا واكتما
My friend, do not rush and keep
الحكم حكم الجبر والاضطرار
Judgment is but coercion and force
سبحان من لا أرى سواه
Glorious is He whom I see naught but Him
لم ينل من وجودنا
He has not attained from our existence
تبارك الله الذي لم يزل
Blessed is Allah, who has always
هذا الذي قلته في الله من صفة
This description of God that I have spoken
إنَّ الذي بوجودي اليوم أعرفه
The one whose existence today I know
عبدت الله لم أعبد سواه
I worshipped God, I worshipped none but Him,
إن الحجاب علينا عين صورتنا
The veil upon us is the pupil of our image,
تجمل لمن قال الرسول بأنه
He is beautiful to whom the Prophet said
القصر ذو الشرفاء من بغداد
The palace of honorable men from Baghdad
ليس لعين الحق في خلقه
The Eye of Truth has no likeness in His creation
إذا سدس الذات النزيهة عارف
When a virtuous soul is enlightened by a knower,
ما لقومي عن وجودي قد عموا
My people are oblivious to my existence
ألا يا نسيم الريح بلغ مها نجد
Oh breeze of the wind, convey to Najd's dwellers
قد حزت من عدمي بالكون ما ثبتت
With non-existence I took from the universe what was made firm
يا حادي العيس بسلع عرج
O guide of the caravan passing through Salu,
يلبي نداء الحق من كان داعيا
He who calls to the truth, let him respond,
شرع القتل للرجوع سريعا
Killing was made lawful to return quickly
إن القبول للاقتدار معين
Acceptance is aid for capability
أتاك الشتاء عقيب الخريف
Winter came after autumn
بالعصر أقسم أن الخير يلزم من
By Time!
ارتباط السقم بالعرض
The connection of illness to symptom
يا موضع الكوماء مهلا إن من
O place of gathering, wait, for he whom
علمت بما في الغيب من كل كائن
I learned of all things hidden and unseen
ألم تر أن الله أكرم أحمدا
Did you not see that Allah honored Ahmad
وجودي عن الأمر الإلهي لم يكن
My existence was not by divine command
النون كالعين في أنطى وأعطاه
The noon is like the eye in giving and bestowing
ألا فارجع إلى أصل الوجود
Behold, return to the origin of existence,
إذا تخلقت بالأسماء أجمعها
If I am characterized with all the names,
إذا ما الشخص أظهر ما يراه
If a person shows what he sees,
إن قلبي وخاطري
My heart and my thoughts
الشيء مختلف الأحكام والنسب
Things have different rulings and relations,
ألا إنني مولى لمن أنا عبده
Behold, I am a loyal servant to the one whose slave I am
ولتقوموا إذا وصلتم إليه
And stand when you reach him
يا أيها الناس خافوا الله واعتمدوا
O people, fear God and rely
علا كل سلطان على كل سوقة
Authority lies over every marketplace
سرائر سر لا تصان ولا تفشى
Secrets of mysteries that are neither guarded nor divulged,
أمرت فلم أسمع دعوت فلم تجب
I commanded but did not hear, I called but got no response
من اسم العزيز إن كنت تعقل
If you are wise, think of the name of the Almighty
نظرت إلى عين الوجود فلم أر
I looked into the eye of existence, but did not see
ولا تنس يوم العيد واشهد صلاته
Do not forget the day of Eid, and attend its prayer
لبيك لبيك من واع ومن داع
I am here, I am here, for the conscious and for those who call
أنجد الشوق وأتهم العزاء
Longing triumphed and grief consumed
في شهوة البطن سر ليس يعلمه
In the desire of the belly there is a secret only known
توالى علي اليبس من كل جانب
Hardship besieged me from every side,
لما تعدى حفظه أعيانها
When he memorized its entities beyond
يقول لي الحق المبين فإنني
The evident truth tells me that I am
بلغوا عني أم الأربعه
Convey from me to Umm Al-Arba'a
الله أنزل نورا يستضاء به
God sent down a light to be illuminated by
ألا يا حمامات الأراكة والبان
O doves of the shrines and temples,
لا ذنب أعظم من ذنب يقاوم عف
No sin is greater than the sin that confronts pardon,
وسارع إلى الخيرات سبقا فإن من
Hasten towards virtues outpacing all
يا خليلي ألما بالحمى
O my two friends, set out early in the morning
وجوده منتج كوني لنعلمه
His existence a cosmic gift, that we may know Him
عجبت لإنسان يراحم رحمانا
I'm amazed at one who pities the Most Merciful
كوكب قال بتنزيه نفسه
A planet in self-glorification said,
الحمد للأول والآخر
Praise be to the First and the Last
فلا تنظر لما عندي
Do not look to what I have
حروف المد واللين
The letters of extension and softness
يا قمر الأسرار يا ملبسي
O moon of secrets, O my robe
يا أيها الكاتب اللبيب
O wise writer
قد طهر الله الإمام الرضى
God has purified Imam al-Radhi
فمن حسي إلى عقلي
From my senses to my mind
الحمد لله جل الله من خالق
Praise be to Allah, the Exalted
لما شهدت الذي في الكون من صور
When I witnessed what images the universe contains,
إن صادف الإنسان علما من الحق
If a man comes upon a truth of knowledge,
هذي أتتك بها رسل الهدى سحرا
These were brought to you by messengers of guidance as magic,
ما لقومي عن حديثي في عمى
Why do my people not speak of me in blindness?
سبحان من صار لنا مطلبا
Glorious is He who has become our desire
إليك أتيت يا مولاي قصدا
To You I come, my Master, seeking
إذا كانت الآيات تعتاد لم يكن
If miracles were commonplace, they would have no effect on any ignorant soul.
نهاني ودادي أن أبث سرائري
My love forbade me from revealing my innermost thoughts
من الحروف حروف هن كالعرض
Letters, some are like the unseen breadth,
تعالى جد ربي عن وجودي
My Lord's majesty transcends my existence
قلبي بذكرك مسرور ومحزون
My heart is joyful and sorrowful with your remembrance,
ولتنظر الأمر فيما قد تشاهده
Consider the matter in what you may behold
الحمد لله بأسمائه
Praise be to God with His names
خلقي من الماء والباقي له تبع
I was created from water, the rest belongs to Him
تراءيت لي في كل سيء فكنته
I saw you in everything bad so I became it
الله يعلم والدلائل تشهد
God knows, the signs bear witness
عجبا كيف تترك القلب ميتا
How strange that you leave the heart for dead
طلبت ذلول عزيزها لتزيله
She asked her beloved to remove him
أنا صاحب الملك الذي قال إنني
I am the owner of the kingdom who said that I
غزال من الفردوس بات معانقي
A gazelle from paradise came embracing me
اقتلوني يا عداتي
Kill me, my enemies,
تاه الفؤاد بذكر الله وابتهجا
The heart wandered in remembrance of God and rejoiced,
النقص في العبد ذاتي وإن له
The servant's deficiency is inherent, though
ما رأينا من عنايته
What we have seen of His care,
أرسلتني لوجود الحق أبغيه
I was sent to seek the truth
إن الخليل إذا أراك مقاما
When you see Khalil in his place,
ألا الغم صباحا أيها الوارد الذي
Oh! Sadness in the morning, O visitor who
سحيرا أناخوا بوادي العقيق
They camped in Wadi al-Aqeeq at nightfall
لولا وجود النفس الأنزه
Were it not for the presence of the pure soul
إنما الماء من الماء روى
Water comes only from water,
إذا أجنب الإنسان عم طهوره
If man defiles his own purity
أيا خير مصحوب ويا خير صاحب
O best of companions, O best friend
زوجت الأنفس أبدانها
The souls were wedded to their bodies
كيف يكون الخلاف في بشر
How can there be discord among people
أقنع بما قد جرى به تسلمي
I am content with what has come to pass, so resign yourself
طابت مطاعم من يحقر قدره
Happy are those who scorn their worth,
إذا كان من ترجونه تحذرونه
If the one you hope for is the one you fear
إذا يضيق بنا أمر ليزعجنا
When hardship befalls us and troubles us
أقسم بالسماء ذات الحيك
I swear by the embroidered sky
البرق يلمع والرعود تسبح
The lightning flashes and the thunder glorifies,
العبد سيده عليه ثناؤه
The servant praises his Master
تدبر أيها الحبر اللبيب
Reflect, O wise scribe,
نمش بأعراف الجياد أكفنا
With palms we gently lead the steeds along
ثلاثة أسماء تكون بينها
Three names between which
ألا إنني عبد لمن أنا ربه
Behold, I am a servant of the One who is my Lord
بالذي قلت إنه عين ما بي
With what you said that it is the very essence of me
بدني أضحى إلى الأمم
My body has become a substitute
أشهد في خالقي بجوده
I bear witness to my Creator's generosity
الصدق سيف الله في الأرض
Truth is God's sword on earth
الكسب منه ما أنا كاسب
I gain from Him what I gain
الحق يعلم والحقائق تجهل
The truth knows, while facts remain unknown,
شؤونك يا مولاي قد حيرت سري
My affairs, O my Master, have perplexed my secret
ريان فلكي عين الحق تحفظه
Cosmic ray, God's eye preserves it
ما نظرت عيني إلى
My eyes have never seen
والفضل للسابق في كل حال
The virtue is for the first in every case
إن الذي هيمني حسنه
The one whose beauty captivates me
أقول بالله لا بكوني
I speak by Allah, not by my being
لباسي لباس المتيقن وإنني
My garment is the garment of the certain, though I
إذا أنت أبصرت الوجود مثالا
If you saw existence as an example,
سأصرف عن آيات كل محقق
I will turn away from the signs of every critic
قدمنا على أرض الحجاز غدية
We arrive at the land of Hejaz in the morning
حكم الطبيعة في الأجسام معتبر
Nature's rule in bodies is well-founded
ما يتقي الله إلا كل ذي نظر
None fear God but those with insight,
نحن سر الأزلي
We are the secret of eternity
نهضت إلى نفسي لأعرف خالقي
I rose to myself to know my Creator
إني سألتك أسماء وحصرتها
I asked you for names, and confined them
لما رأيت منازل الجوزاء
When I saw the houses of Jawzā',
النار تضرم في قلبي وفي كبدي
The fire blazes in my heart and in my liver
إني أفدت من استفدت علوما
I have benefited from one from whom I acquired knowledge,
حق اليقين علوم لا يحصلها
The certain knowledge is comprised of sciences
إن سيرت صم الجبال سرابا
If the mountains sped like mirages,
أسبح الله بأسمائه
I glorify God with His names
سمعت الخلق ليس لهم وجود
I heard that creatures have no existence,
إذا ما المرء غاب عن الوجود
When a man departs from existence
حسنت ظني بربي
I held good thoughts of my Lord
أضاء بذات الأضا بارق
A lightning bolt lit up the brightly lit sky
إن المهيمن وصى الجار بالجار
The Almighty commanded the neighbor to care for his neighbor
ولما رأيت الأمر يعلو ويسفل
When I saw how matters rise and fall,
ما قرة العين غير عيني
Nothing delights my eye but my eye,
ما لي وإياك غير الله من سند
You and I have none but Allah as our support
العلم أشرف ما يقنى ويكتسب
Knowledge is the noblest thing one can attain and acquire
إن الغنى لله منا كما
Indeed from us is wealth for God
إذا تجليت لي أنثى أهيم بها
If a beautiful woman appears before me
الحمد لله حمدا
Praise be to Allah, praise
ألا فاتبع من كان عبدا مخصصا
Follow the one who was devoted
من يطع الارسال صدقا فقد
Whoever obeys the messengers in truth
الناس أولاد حواء سواي أنا
People are the children of Eve alike, including me
والليل ليل الهوى والطبع إذ يغشى
The night is the night of passion as it casts its veil,
هيهات هيهات لما توعدون
Alas, alas for what they promised
إذا كنت بالحق المهيمن ناطقا
If you speak truly of the Supreme Truth
من وافق الحق في حكم وفي عمل
He who agrees with truth in judgment and deed
وإخوان صدق جمل الله ذكرهم
True brothers, may God exalt their mention,
رأيت الذي قد جاء من أرض بابل
I saw the one who came from the land of Babylon
الهوى حيرني
Love has perplexed me,
جسم بلا روح ضجيع الردى
A body without a soul, laid low by decay
تبارك الله هل بالدار من أحد
Blessed is Allah, is there anyone in the house
إليك أبيت اللعن قطع المناهل
I have cursed you, cutting off the watering places
إذا النور من فار أو من طور سيناء
If the light comes from Mount Sinai or from Faran,
الرب يعرف مطلقا ومقيدا
The Lord knows the absolute and the limited
الله أعظم أن يدري فيعتقدا
It is too great for God to be known and imagined
قل لمن قال لنا
Tell those who told us
نفسي الفداء لبيض خرد عرب
My soul is ransom for the whiteness of smooth-skinned Arab youths
أنا ورقاء المثاني
I am the sublime verses
وإن كان في سير إلى الذات قاصدا
Though you may travel inward, seeking the self
سبحان من كون السماء
Glorious is He who created the sky,
إذا طلعت شمس الفناء الذي حجى
When the sun of oblivion rises and shines
ألبسته خرقة التصوف
I clothed him in the robe of Sufism
يا هلال الدياج لح بالنهار
O crescent moon illuminating the darkness
الصوم ميز ذات الحق من ذاتي
Fasting distinguished the essence of truth from my essence
إن البروج أماكن مقدرة
The constellations are destined places
أنا المحيي لا أكنى ولا أتبلد
I am the ever-living, I do not wither or languish
إن لله في الوجود عبيدا
Indeed, for God there are servants in existence
فإذا كنت معي أنت معي
If you are with me, you are with me
أقول وقد بانت شواهد علتي
I say, as the proofs of my plight have become clear,
لبست صفية خرقة الفقراء
Safiya donned the robe of the poor,
إذا قلت يالله قال أنا انتا
If I say O Allah, You say Here I am
فأنا السر المسوى
I am the hidden secret
تعظيم ربك في تعظيم ما شرعا
Glorifying your Lord in glorifying what He has legislated
إني أفيق وفي أرضي لها فيق
I awaken in a land that has decay
فيا ليت شعري هل يرى الناس ما أرى
Oh, if only my people could see what I see
ظلام الليل معتبر
The darkness of night is wise
أنا المختار لا المختار أني
I am the Chosen One, not the chooser of myself
ألبست أم محمد
I dressed the mother of Muhammad
إني رأيت وما رأيت وجودي
I saw myself, though I saw not my existence,
إذا رأيت وجودا ما له حد
If I saw an existence that has a limit
بالمال ينقاد كل صعب
With money can be led astray
هذي المنازل والفؤاد الساري
These dwellings and my heart wandering in them
يرى الحق أعمالي بما هو ذو بصر
He sees the truth of my deeds with his all-seeing vision
قف بالمنازل واندب الأطلالا
Stop at the dwellings and mourn the ruins
إني إناء ملآن يشرب ما
I am a vessel filled, drinking what's in it
عليك بحفظ النفس فالأمر بين
Preserve yourself, for the matter is clear
أنا آدم الأسماء لا آدم النشء
I am Adam of names, not Adam of substance
ما كل من أفهمته يفهم
Not everyone who I understand, understands me
لله در رجال ما لهم دول
God bless the men who have no worries,
يا أيها البيت العتيق تعالى
O ancient house, come hither
إذا كانت الأشياء تبدو عن الأمر
If things seem strange beyond comprehension,
ألبست جارية ثوبا من الخفر
I dressed a maid in a dress of silk
من عمل السر الذي في القضا
The One who ordains what is hidden and decreed
إن الزمان الذي ما زلت أحصيه
The time that I have been counting
إني تعوذت بي مني فإن لنا
I sought refuge in myself from myself, for in us
ما قدر اللهَ حق قدره
None truly valued Allah as He merits
ما ليلة القدر ألا ذات رائيها
What a night is the Night of Decree if not for its Seer,
الحمد لله الذي صيرا
Praise be to Allah who has made
أَلا يا بانة الوادي
O you who dwell in the valley,
إن الفتى من يراعي حق خالقه
The youth who upholds his Creator's right
إذا كنت قرآنا فقلبك ياسين
If you are the Quran, then your heart is yaseen
الحمد لله حمدا لا يقاومه
Praise be to God, praise that cannot be resisted,
وزاحمني عند استلامي أوانس
Crowds jostled me as I received intimates,
إذا رأيت مسيئا يبتغي ضررا
When you see one who wishes you harm
الفرق بين القديم الذات والحدث
The difference between the old self and the new
لا تعول علي في كل حال
Do not rely on me at all times
لبيك لبيبك من داع بإجماع
I respond to your call with utmost consensus
كم رأينا برامة
How many we have seen of pride
إن الخيال هو الذي يتحكم
Imagination is what controls
كبر إلهك فالإله كبير
Glorify your God for God is Great
شمر فإن صفات القوم تشمير
Roll up your sleeves, for the traits of the people require effort
أنا إن شئت شئت منل إلا
If I willed, I willed nothing but
إني وذكر من يأتي فيذكرني
Whenever one who remembers me comes along, he remembers me in the best way, in his soul and openly.
رأيت زلزلة عظمى منهبة
I saw a great earthquake tearing
فلو أرآني إذا أتاني
If he saw me when he came to me
تعشقت نفسا ما رأيت لها عينا
I fell in love with a soul I never saw with my eyes
لا فرق بين نزول الوحي بالملك
There is no difference between revelation's descent
يعرج العبد لاكتساب علوم
The servant climbs to gain knowledge,
الحمد لله الذي
Praise be to Allah, who
غادروني بالأثيل والنقا
They left me with a fading shadow and a mirage
ما كل ما أنا منه
Not everything I'm made of
إذا كانت الأشياء صنع حكيم
If all things are made by the Wise One
ومن بعده سر الطهارة واضح
After him the secret of purity is clear
نزيه الجناب العال كيف تنزهت
How pure is the Exalted Lord, how sublime His purity
لكيوان الثبات بغير شك
With constancy and without any doubt
أتوب منه إليه
I repent to Him from Him
إني بليت بأمر لست أعرفه
I am afflicted with a matter I do not recognize
لحدث بنتي بيدي
With my own hands I chastise my daughter,
قرة العين والبصر
The delight of the eye and sight
من يدرع يطلع صونا على الحرم
Whoever is armored will emerge protected over the sanctuary
وبالجبل الأمين يمين ربي
By the faithful mountain my Lord's oath
ما دمية أنشأها قالبي
A doll I have created but my heart worships her blindly
النظم أولى به إن كنت تعرفه
Prose is more suited to us if you know us,
المرجفان هما الإبريق والطاس
The two pitchers are the jug and bowl,
قدمنا على أرض الحجاز غدية
We arrived at the land of Hejaz in the morning
أنضى الركاب إلى رب السموات
Seek the path to the Lord of the heavens,
أصبحت مثل بني يعقوب إذ دخلوا
I have become like the sons of Jacob when they entered
أقول وروح القدس ينفث في النفس
I say as the Holy Spirit breathes into the soul
أخاطبني عني
Speak to me of my self
إنما قلت لشيء كن فكان
You have only said something, "Be," and it is
من ظن أن طريق أرباب العلى
He who believes the path to the Exalted is through words, is ignorant, lost, and confused.
إني أقمت لدين الله أنصره
I have stood for the religion of God, to help it,
تبارك الله لا أبغي به عوضا
Blessed is Allah, I do not seek any reward for Him
قل للذي نظم الوجود عقودا
Say to the one who composed existence in cycles
الأمر لله والمأمور في عدم
The command belongs to God, while nothingness
إذا خفق النجم السعيد بشرقه
If the blessed star glimmers in the east
ما رحلوا بانوا البزل العيسا
Whenever they packed their bags and left Buzaala,
العلم بالأحكام لا يظهر
Knowledge of the rulings is only revealed
إذا ما نعت الحق يوما فقيد
If you describe the Truth one day, then restrain
من طلب الدين بالكلام
Whoever seeks religion through theology
شغلي بمن شرع لي
My occupation is with He who spread out the occupation for me
إني بنيت علمي باسلافي
I built my knowledge on my ancestors,
إن الذي فرض القرآن يرجعكم
He who ordained the Qur'an will return you
إذا اختصم الجمعان قيل لهم كفوا
If two groups quarrel, say to them: desist!
إن الذي فتح الخزائن جوده
The one whose generosity unlocked the treasuries
القى الهوى في القلب ما ألقى
Love cast in my heart what it cast
الميل في الأمرين لا ينكر
The inclination in both matters cannot be denied
إن التحرك عن ضجر
Moving from discomfort,
لبست جارية من يدنا
A maid of ours has donned
ألا هل إلى الزهر الحسان سبيل
Is there a way to the beautiful flowers?
بالجزع بين الأبرقين الموعد
At the pass between the two flashes is the tryst,
يا أيها المؤمنون أوفوا
O believers, fulfill
كل وقت اراك ليلة قدري
Every time I see you is like the Night of Power
إذا أشهدت أنك في شهود
If you bear witness that you are in the witnessing,
يا من يحيرني في ذاته أبدا
O you who perplex me with your essence forever
ولولا حدود الشيء ما امتاز عينه
وإن حل خسف بالمهاة فإنه
أطارح كل هاتفة بأيك
إن اللسان رسول القلب للبشر
هذا المقام وهذه أسراره
قد تاه غلماننا علينا
يحكم كر الليل والنهار
يمين المؤمن الركن اليماني
لبس التقى للنفس خير لباس
سألتنا زمرد
فيا سائلي ماذا رأى قلبك الذي
أنا في العالم الذي لا أراكم
الأصل قد يثبته فرعه
ضم الكتاب إلى الوعاء فحازه
وقد ترددت الألباب حائرة
وخذ من الأمر ما يعطيك حامله
قد أفصح الشان فيما قد أتاك به
نتيجة عن واحد لا تكن
مقام العارفين لمن يراهم
من حجر الأمر على الناس
الناس في لبس من الخلق الجديد
إني قرأت كتاب الله أجمعه
إن الظنون على الوجوه محال
الوهية الخلق مجهولة
حنيني إلى الليل الذي جاءني يسري
إذا شمس النفوس أرت ضحاها
إذا جاءت الأسماء يقدمها الله
سبق السيف العذل
قالت لنا سفري إن كنت في سفري
الله أكرم أن يحظى بنعمته
عجبت لموجود حوى كل صورة
لولا شهودي ما عرفت وجودي
رأيت جارية في النوم عاطلة
سمعت من ليس يدري ما يقول به
من قال في الله بتوحيده
قد يخلق المخلوق في الخالق
إني رأيت وجودا لا أسميه
لي الملك لا بل نحن للملك آلة
الحمد لله حمد من لم
ما لي من العلم إلا ما نطقت به
رأيت البدر في فلك المعالي
من لم يزل بامتثال الشرع يطلبني
ألبست بدرا خريقة الخلق
ألبست بنتي سفري
ألبست من همومنا اليوم خرقتنا
ومن كان يستسقي يحول ثوبه
خليلي عوجا بالكثيب وعرجا
بان العزاء وبان الصبر إذ بانوا
درست ربوعهم وإن هواهم
لمعت لنا بالأبرقين بروق
حملن على اليعملات الخدورا
يا حادي العيس لا تعجل بها وقفا
أيا روضة الوادي أجب ربة الحمى
عج بالركائب نحو برقة ثهمد
عند الجبال من كثيب زرود
ألا يا ثرى نجد تباركت من نجد
طلع البدر في دجى الشعر
بين الحشا والعيون النجل حرب هوى
من لي بمخضوبة البنان
وغادرة قد غادرت بغدائر
بذات الأضا والمأزمين وبارق
هنيئا لأهل الشرق من حضرة القدس
السر ما بين إقرار وإنكار
سرج العلم أسرجت في الهواء
لله در عصابة سارت بهم
هب النسيم مع الإمساء والغلس
لمع البرق علينا عشاء
البدر في المحو لا يجارى
الفرج يحمل في الأنثى وفي الذكر
قلب المحقق مرآة فمن نظرا
قلت يا بيضة الفلك
سر سر الوجود فرد بعيد
لا ينيب الفؤاد إلا إذا ما
إن قلبي إلى الذي آب عنه
إن المراد مع المريد مطالب
لا تعترض فعله إن كنت ذا أدب
من يشتغل بالذي قد ألزمه
كان لي قلب فلما ارتحل
حمدت إلهي والمقام عظيم
نبه على السر ولا تفشه
مواقف الحق أدبتني
أنا العقاب لي المقام الأرفع
خرقت حجاب الغيب أطلب سره
إن الغمام مطارح الأنوار
نطح الغفر بطينا زابنا
نطح النثر غفره
فخلع عليه
نسبوني إلى ابن حزم وإني
ظهرت آيات وجودك لك
النور يمنح أضواء ونوركم
يا حبذا المسجد من مسجد
أطواف على طوافي بالمعاني
ألبست ست العيش مثل الذي
سألتنا شرف نلبسها
ألبست بنت زكي الدين خرقتنا
ألبست زينب ثوب الفضل والدين
لبست صفية بنت ابنتنا
وإن عدم الماء القراح فإن
فإن نسي الإنسان ركنا فإنه
وكم من مصل ما له من صلاته
ويلتاح في حق السماء إذا انبرى
نزلت إلى الأمر الدني وكان لي
لما نظرت إلى مجموع أحوالي
الخلف تحسن في الإيعاد صورته
لا تفرحن ببشرى الوقت إن لها
شؤون ربي من تغيير أنفاسي
رأيت بارقة كانجم لامعة
بالشم أدرك أحيانا وبالنظر
سبحان من يعلم لا يعلم
الحق للرحمن في العرش
ما رأينا من غاية
إن الوجود لعين الحكم والذات
أسماء أسمائه الحسنى التي تبدي
إلا إن أسماء الإله عظيمة
رأيت الذي لا بد لي منه جهرة
السر مني
إلهي إذا ناديت فالسمع أنتم
النصر في الخلق إيمان يقوم بهم
الحمد لله رب العالمين على
حشرت أجزاء جملتنا
الحمد لله الذي أعلما
بشرى من الله الكريم أتت بها
أمر الإله من الإله تعلق
لما تألفت الأشياء بالألف
لله عبد مشى المختص في طلبه
لما حللت مقام القلب إدريسا
فالأول الحق بالوجود
قد أفلح المؤمنون الصادقون بما
الشعر ما بين محمود ومذموم
يا أهل يثرب لا مقام لعارف
إن لنا في سبأ آية
العلم أفضل ما يقنى ويكتسب
ألا إن علم الصبح يعسر دركه
يقرب الأمر إذا انشق القمر
إذا وضع الميزان في قبة العدل
إذا سمع الله العليم مقالتي
لولا الدعاوى ما ابتلى من ابتلي
إذا كنت في شيء ولا بد قائلا
إن الجبال وإن أصبحن جامدة
تعجبت من أنثى يقاوم مكرها
إذا جاء بالإجمال نون فإنه
العرش يحمله من كان يحمله
يوم المعارج يوم لا انقضاء له
صفة الإله لكل شخص مبتغى
تنوعت الأحوال فاعترف العبد
أرى في التين علم الحق حقا
نار الإله على الأسرار تطلع
إن التقرش تأليف والفته
العلم بحر ما له من ساحل
إني أغار على المولى وصاحبه
إن الذي أظهر الأعيان لو ظهرا
سافر عني تستقم
وعيوقاتها تهدي إلينا
لما سمعت بأن الحق يطلبني
ما أنا اليوم لنفسي
إذا جاءت الأرسال من عند مرسل
إن سري هو قولي
إن الزمان الذي سميته بفنا
توليت عنها طاعة حيث ملت
جميل ولا يهوى جلي ولا يرى
تعالى وجود الذات عن نيل ناظرٍ
حمد الإله بقدس الأرواحا
خبير بما أبدى عليم بما أخفى
زملوني زملوني لا تقل
سأحرف عن قوم عن الحق أعرضوا
صادني من كان فكري صاده
ضاق صدري لما أتى
قرأت كتاب الحق بالحق مفهما
غني عن الأكوان بالذات والذي
فررت إلى ربي كموسى ولم يكن
مرادي مراد الطالبين أولي النهى
من لي بمن أرتضيه
لاتتخذ غير الإله وكيلا
لا تدعي في طريق أنت سالكه
أحاطت بنا الأفكار من كل جانب
الله يعلم نفسي
من يعبد الله إن الله قد عبدا
تجري الأمور إلى آجالها ركضا
إني لأهوى الهدى والهدى يهواني
ما انبعثت همتي إليها
معرفتي بالإله معرفتي
للحق في الأكوان حد يعلم
إن الإله له تجل في الصور
إذا حسنت ظنك بالرجال
إن لي معنى أعيش به
الله أكبر ما بالدار من أحد
الحد لله حمداً لله بالله
نزلت على حصن منيع مشيد
ما ان ذكرتك في سر وفي علن
أجوع مع الةجدان من أجل
أحب إذا أحببت من يدري ما
اعجبوا من الهنا
الله أكبر لكن لا بأفعل من
سبحان من هو نائب في خاتمه
إذا النظر الفكري كان سميري
بالشرع أعلم ما البرهان ينكره
لا إله إلا الله
حاسبونا فدققوا
إذا قلت يا الله لبى من الحشى
عز المساعد إذ عز الذي قصدوا
ألا إنه الفرقان عين وجودي
في سورة الأعراف مذكورة
قد كنت عبدا والهوى حاكمي
أنا في الأمر مثلكم
مطوت متون الصافنات جيادي
هنا يشاهد ما الألباب تنكره
من كان تكمل ذاته بسواها
الحمد لله الذي بفضله
ألا إنني العبد المليك السميدع
إذا حرنا وحار الناس فينا
لما شهدت الذي سوى حقيقته
الصوم لله العظيم بشرعه
لما قرأت كتابا ليس في سيرك
أحببت شخصا جميع الناس تعرفه
غن الطبيعة أعطت في عناصرها
عجبت من ستور
علمت ربي لما
قل لأم الأربع
الحمد لله الذي أنعما
ألا إن الوجود وجود ربي
إذا طلع البدر المنير عشاء
إذا أنت لم تعرف إلهك فاعتكف
أقول بأني واحد بوجودي
منازل القرآن لا تعلم
لتندمن على ما كان من عمل
ورثت محمدا فورثت كلا
لولا لبانة موسى النور ما انقلبا
إذا تحققت شيئا أنت تعلمه
إله تعالى أن يرى ببصيرة
إذا كان ما للعقل تأتي به النمل
ليس يدري ما هو المر سوى
الأمر أسماء له نعوت
لله قوم بقعر البحر منزلهم
إن لله عبادا كلما
تبارك الله في اليأس من باس
الحمد لله لا أشرك به أحدا
إني أرى إبلا يقتادها رجل
إن المحامد أنواع منوعة
يس على الجزم مبني فليس له
يا لائمي في مقالي
حمدت إلهي والمحامد جمته
علمي بربي عزيز ليس يعرفه
علمي بالرحمن لا يثبت
كم رأيناك ولم تشعر بنا
قد عظم الله ما أقول
شكرت نعمة ربي حين أظهر لي
ناداني الحق من عقلي ومن ذاتي
إذا كنت المسيح وكنت عبدا
لقد حار الذي سبر الوجودا
الحمد لله جل الله من واق
ذنبي عظيم وذنبي لا يزايلني
إني سمعت كلاما ليس يدريه
إن الذي خلق الإنسان من علق
هيهات هيهات لا مال ولا ولد
إنهم كانوا إذا
سما فاعتلى في كل حال مقام من
ليس يدري الغير ما طعم الهوى
إن الفروع لها أصل يولدها
هذا الذي عنت له الأوجه
إن الحبيب هو الوجود المجمل
إني جعلت رسول الله خير شفيع
