1. If my eyes look, it is You who sees
And if my ears hear, You are nothing but my hearing

2. All my faculties and their locus
Is Your existence, my secret, as stated in the Shariah

3. And no inherent disposition rules if it takes form
For if it takes form, controlling belongs to the disposition

4. If You are my eyes when I see you through them
Then my eyes are protected from the disease of cracks

5. If His names separate the image of my image
I yearn for reunion over my image in Him

6. So praise Him, with all praises
And thank Him, in times of harm and benefit

7. And watch over my states when His eye is their keeper
And witness Him in the form of gifts and prevention

8. Indeed, His galloping steeds left
Much pale devastation in His arena

9. So whoever knocks on the door of God while the Door is closed
Is like my essence when I set out knocking

10. And witness Him at the turning and twisting of intimacy
For the perfection of Truth is in the witnessing of agony

11. And His image in pearls is the most perfect image
And the image of the eye of the universe is most perfect in agony

12. Indeed, I saw the rising and setting in the stripping away
With the majesty of the drawing away and its overwhelming

13. If there is no branch to the root of our existence
What fruit can be reaped but from the branch?

14. Stupefaction is the existence of Truth in my land of exile
So there is no higher plain among dwellings than my stupefaction

15. Indeed, He hides His eye with the lute string
And shows it to the eye in the presence of pairing

16. Indeed, whatever the mind is intoxicated by
Whether it be in increase or in paucity

17. Flags of His guidance were raised for the eye
And He secured victory for the Truth in that raising

18. Were it not for God's protection, minarets
Would have collapsed on monks so safety lies in defense

19. I wandered the east and west of the lands
Without my slipper wearing out or my journey cut off

20. And in Arafat I did not know my reality
Nor did I know until I came to the crowd

21. And when we witnessed it and I came to Mina
I sacrificed to Him with slaughter all I could

22. I stoned my ritual pillars one by one
With some pebbles - may the handful be blessed

23. And when I came to the House I circumambulated
Yearningly above the Seventh much-trodden threshold

24. My Lord's care comprehended everything
Among people, in sealing hearts and disposition

25. And for that arrogance did not enter their hearts
Of the Maker of making, Who is exalted beyond making

26. And were it not for the existence of hearing among people
They would not have found guidance

27. And there is nothing but the knowledge of Sacred Law and convention
So how far between the people of transmission and reason, O youth
