1. If you saw existence as an example,
You dealt with it to the right and left.

2. So you brought it down to earth with knowledge,
And made it rise like a crescent moon.

3. You crowned its head with a bejeweled crown,
Though once it was but a shoe on time's foot.

4. With it you traced the cosmos east and west,
Making of it a qibla, north and south.

5. How much defect we saw made manifest;
When we came to it, perfection was its clothing.

6. How much I asked of God, and He from it
Gave answer; how much I questioned, and it solved.

7. For truly my sun rose up over it,
And for it cast on the two worlds a shade.
