1. If two groups quarrel, say to them: desist!
Whoever wishes may take, and whoever wishes may refrain.

2. Every wise-hearted person in the matter is decisive
When good comes to him, he rushes to it eagerly.

3. He takes it as a lesson from God, an adornment,
And though it departs from him he follows its traces.

4. Thus different categories appear among us -
In His sight, according to the Knowing One, a single class,

5. Unique in meaning though manifold in form,
Such is the case in speech and customary usage.

6. On my ears are earrings, and on my legs anklets,
On my head a crown, and on my arms armbands.

7. When consensus is reached, no form
Can boast over another form, or take pride.

8. The diversity before me is God's adornment,
Conferred on me by the Bounteous One as a gift.

9. The forms have diversified but the water is one,
Transcendent of attributes, pure and unalloyed.

10. Be content with what has come from it, and do not increase,
Lest something come upon you from it afterwards.

11. It is the Truth - know it with certainty, decisively,
For what I have said regarding it, there is no alternative.
