1. If I mention God in secret and aloud
My Lord will remember me for my remembrance

2. For we related it as hearsay
And that narration about Him remains in my remembrance

3. He who is His being is my being and His eye is my eye
His secret is my secret and His proclamation is my proclamation

4. I am none other than He, nor am I other than His eye
So whoever knew me, I do not know

5. For if I were His eye I would not be ignorant
And if I were not Him, His affair would not be my affair

6. So distinguish Him from me by His self-sufficiency
And distinguish me from Him by my poverty
