1. When hardship befalls us and troubles us
We endure, for the end of hardship brings relief

2. Our Merciful Creator has accustomed us
That for every hardship He has willed there is relief

3. Do you not see how the earth reveals its flowers
As the sky within itself has relief

4. And the universe, its heights and depths, has naught but them
And the matter between them is clearly defined

5. We know everything in existence
In the Quran, unified yet dual

6. Even our existence, to which we shall return
With attributes of the universe, dual

7. No individual exists without a pair
Except He who apportions and grades

8. That God, who nothing resembles
With whose dawn, day breaks

9. He is Almighty, with no equal
Yet is gladdened by the servant's devotion

10. How can one who is needy and destitute
Of things we need, have no distress

11. It is not sound to say that we
Have power and wealth in full

12. Love is an honest witness in our case
When people follow what I have said

13. They are lanterns in the darkness if they enter
And blind if they depart and leave

14. Glory to Him, no minds can encompass
Knowledge of His Being when they delve

15. Have you not seen them turn back
When they saw they were lost in that fray

16. No unknown can grasp His reality
Leaving those with proofs confounded

17. If only they considered His beauty
They would say He has eyeliner and kohl

18. They would say His eyes show mercy in seeing
They would say He has mascara and eye shadow

19. They established no stance, gathered
No knowledge of Him, no rank attained

20. This with creation, so consider Truth
What light of His their homes contain
