1. Praise be to God, in secret and aloud
A praise that suffices both soul and tongue

2. With tongues beyond count and number
From every limb the body's growth began

3. I mean by this the body of all creation
Like the Throne and the revolving sphere of favors

4. For it is the law, and people support it
With what it contains of rulings and traditions

5. The words of God divided and separated
Their entities some from others, beautiful

6. None but the wise and perceptive knows
The wisdom of what we have said

7. Its path follows the best tradition
Its eye is the eye of what we said in the traditions

8. It is the definitive argument, and its pursuer
Is known among the people of Syria and Yemen

9. In body and soul, nothing else in the universe
Except the imagination that brings you tribulations

10. You see it in the tradition of cattle, with bounty
Bounty, and in the tradition of droughts, with trials

11. And none perceives, asleep or awake
Except Him - if you are wise and timely

12. This is its reality, so follow its path
And do not oppose it, in secret or openly

13. If you oppose it with it you oppose it
If not for Him, al-Rahman would not be worshipped in idols

14. With the intellect prove it existence, and with
The law prove it rule, so the matter is complete

15. He has power over all minds
With forms, and this is among His greatest talents

16. He humiliates the mighty, ennobles the lowly
So rule belongs to God, had He willed it would not exist

17. Of the wondrous matters, that He rules the command
And the rule rejoices in it and grieves

18. If He did not rule us and His power
He would not bring you joys and sorrows

19. The command may rule a command and annul it
With illusion, so it is with minds in company

20. If not for the law, we would have strayed
From it, ruling youth with tribulations

21. The law is a neighbor to our Creator
To bring happiness to the wise faithful

22. So worship your God, Lord of the Throne
As the prophets did, in His beautiful law

23. Between the Messenger and the Spirit they appeared
These matters, for good teaching to us

24. If He did not rule us, I would not rule
Him in us, and for this we are in loss

25. We know the truth has told us
The truth is for the hour, a foot not for the horse

26. If not for nonsense and the faith I cast
My mind, for its weakness and defects
