1. The One of clear sight whom we know
Yet much wisdom remains unknown

2. His rules enumerated, effects traced
Such knowledge as can be accepted

3. When I say this is my doing
He says no, it is I who do it

4. I greet him, why say that to me?
You are bound by what you have done

5. Then you deny me the act while I
Struggle in what I expend

6. And I know for certain that you
Are the Expert in what I don't know

7. That which I make beautiful, you make it beautiful
And what you make beautiful, I make it beautiful

8. So if I consider an act ugly, I don't say
You made me do it out of propriety

9. And if I do a good act, then I
Through you, my Lord, extend it

10. And I am the doer in this and that
Outwardly, though unveiling doesn't allow it

11. I spend my life obtaining what
The Knower of Command seems to neglect

12. And I, from the world of creation, have
Analyzed it by unveiling, not neglecting it

13. So He sees me in what I know
That it is through me and with it I hurry

14. But when I devote it to Him, I say no
