1. This is indeed lawful magic
Where are you, where are you O men

2. Drink it as milk from our udder
The one who drank found clear water

3. It resembles a miracle in its source
Oh for a matter that cannot be attained

4. By acquiring that it is from the words of Him
Who said with stillness in the eye of the impossible

5. It is the shadow of the One you know
And so its ruling is the ruling of shadows

6. The perfection of a person is only his shadow
For in the shadow his eye of perfection lies

7. And so Allah extended it to us
That we see it, setting an example

8. Allah is exalted above our comprehension
And so are we, majesty in beauty

9. Our knowledge of Him is but our knowledge of ourselves
And so we are ignorant of Him in every state

10. In the return of the shadow there is clear knowledge
