1. O full moon, hasten to the caller
You have suffered enough, so give thanks for the harm of enemies

2. The light has come to you so take it
And do not deviate into the darkness

3. For he who is given radiance one day
Will despise writing with ink

4. So describe God and look
At Him alone in isolation

5. And guard your hearing when calling
And purify your words when invoking

6. And wear for your Master a dress of poverty
So you may gain favor with the Bountiful Giver

7. And say when you come to Him poor
O Master, make me reliant on Your affection

8. Quench me with the drink of union in the morning
Still complaining of the echo of distance

9. Lost for a time without sustenance
When he saw none but servants

10. So be his sustenance as long as
His days of estrangement last with moderation

11. Until the unmarried die of patience
And the embers of distance are extinguished

12. And people are amazed by a worthless man
Who becomes a guide after misguidance

13. Who was dead and became alive
Has transcended mortality

14. None took off his sandals but Moses
At his condition by the valley’s edge

15. He whose sandals you took off
His words attained supreme rectitude

16. So if you are a Hashimi heir
Then follow the path of rectitude

17. And wear your sandals, for he who
Did not wear his in the valley

18. Can the ocean now equal
One who did not see the eye in the ashes?

19. So distinguish the state when you see
Him in the ship of holiness in the valleys

20. And arrange knowledge when He confides
His secret to you in the valleys

21. And watch over Him in the fancy of every mystery
In a screen if He comes unveiled

22. Do not scatter and divide
His servants, both present and absent

23. For if you are granted return, part
The present from the absent

24. And beware of riding thoroughbreds
When pairing the camel with the steed

25. Let no individuals veil you, and be patient
With His severe tribulations

26. And look to the Giver of meanings
And pair the eye with the heart

27. And refer the matter in receiving
To Him, be one who depends on Him

28. And let not the word of My servant deceive you
For the truth in gathering does not call out

29. And this station is more hidden
Than the absence of an equal to the Generous

30. Know Him as knowledge and know Him as a state
With spices if He comes and goes

31. And know Him as attributes but do not know Him
As an essence, for the eye of the absurd is evident

32. And be not one of desire and love
For the lover's heart is prone to pain

33. Who spends the night burning with yearning
Will complain to Him of the agony of passion

34. And look with the eye of separation as well
At Him, you will see the wisdom of obstinacy

35. And the wisdom of resolve and delay
And the wisdom of peace and war

36. For only the wise director perceives
The wisdom of rejection

37. And look upon one striking pieces of wood
Of ebony that flowed as a valley

38. And marvel at Him and take Him as a state
You will find Him like fire in the tinder

39. For water is the sustenance of the soul
And the body is to fire as the wick

40. If the water is gone, you will not find it
In the abode of your world at the return

41. And if His fire wanes at night
Make peace with one who died in bed

42. I have clarified a secret if I were free
I would conceal it in the tinder

43. Whoever knows the truth, knows the taste
Did not pair heresy with guidance

44. So when the Beloved discloses Himself to him
He knows not the bliss of slumber

45. Like the Messenger of God, when
Sleep did not reside in his heart

46. If the crops reached their end
The people would be busy with the harvest

47. Or if an army of war descended upon the fortress
The people would rush to holy war

48. I adjure you by God, O my friend
Is the fur bedding spread out like the quilt?

49. No, by Him who commanded us to Him
The good with Him is not like evil
