1. My people turn from my discourse in blindness,
Then said: "We surpass you in knowledge."

2. They spoke true in half of what they said, not
True in the other half, for

3. What the judgement of what I brought
Of sciences they knew not, though wise.

4. The knowledge of taste is too proud to be grasped
By a scholar who turned from us, never polite.

5. And so the judge errs whom
Events seek when he judges.

6. The flowers on earth laugh when
The flower on high weeps.

7. And so the knowledge I revealed
Among us makes their knowledge laugh.

8. Evil scholars were they not, nor
Were they with piety bound to generosity.

9. If someone was ignorant of the matter
I said in this, my poem, in blindness,

10. The sensible one is he who
Humbled himself when I showed him the ancient.

11. The truth of sincerity we know
All who witness it will submit.

12. You see the truth as He revealed it
In revelation, level and blindness.

13. And if my existence was its essence
I would not cease to be in my essence negation.

14. God knows what we are by it
Of the matters of His tablet and pen.

15. When He made life a river
Of vapor in which He called it blood.

16. Strangely, I am in His image
And thus my matter remains ambiguous.

17. To Him belongs transcendence from describing me, and
He came in the Qur'an with established knowledge.

18. He on earth is the Able God,
And with me in every face and attribute.

19. Pardon what they pardoned, they
Are with God, assuredly, a wise people.

20. When they left us, and in their pact
Claimed to be over us chiefs, supposedly,

21. We are only slaves, all of us,
With us and with them it is not so.

22. I said of them that they claimed
To belie God, who they claimed.

23. In God's book when it came with it
Informing of them, questioning them.
