1. I wish I had not risen high as they rose
Above him, and I had not drawn near as they drew near,

2. And I had not been idle with what I have because of what they have,
And I had not obtained what they obtained and knew not.

3. And they, in every state and scene,
Are upon the judgment of what they thought in it and intended.

4. I wish they had put it forward and persevered
Upon it, they would have descended in humility and not risen high.

5. But when their generosity
And existence were verified, they demolished the foundations of what they built.

6. And that is only because in truthfulness there is a flaw
That betrays them in what they saw and related.

7. I wish when their existence
With Him was verified, they had not cared for that and been tested.

8. And if other than existence had formed their existence,
They would not have followed the opposites of passion and not been evil.

9. Your love is my sought, your affection my doctrine,
And your passion the quintessence of life, if quintessence.

10. And their advice, “Hold fast to God’s cord,
Cling to it” and draw near them when they are alone.
