1. If the one you hope for is the one you fear
How can you have both security and apprehension?

2. How can you have fear yet feel secure
Tell me, what is the use? The servant is receptive

3. Moderation is unachievable
And neither does the doer benefit, know this, it is futile

4. There must be a weighing of matters, for
That is the sought purpose, it is the origin of the inclination

5. If not for the existence of inclination, our eyes
Would not be, and none but the lowly deny the sublime

6. Indeed someone trustworthy in Mecca told me
About the Chosen One what I am saying

7. I asked the Messenger of God about the matter and he said:
Know that what I say is what the ancients have said

8. And I have told you about me, take it, for it
Is the truth, not from them, though they are virtuous

9. Noble souls who came with all that
The Messengers brought, and the truth separates

10. So whoever wants to leave can leave and whoever wants to stay can stay
For I am bound for God, the Overseer

11. So I said to him "You have slept, for this
Is good news, so say what you will, you are virtuous"

12. And he gave me the good news that our portion
Of the House is its holy corner of the virtuous

13. Do not blame me until he came to Mecca
To die, so the lofty and prominent grieved

14. A noble messenger came to me in beautiful
Seville, well-versed in knowledge, complete

15. He said to us "Knowledge of letters is our guide
To you being the called Imam Al-Hulahil

16. You see no letter written out in the script
But it applies to all and is inclusive

17. And each letter has a clear specialty
Seen in specification by one who is effectual

18. Knowing what is in the letters and utterance
He defends himself with it and contends

19. About a divine command that would be ordained
By the decree of the one whose means are hoped for

20. It befalls in every breadth and pass
