1. Crowds jostled me as I received intimates,
Who had come circling in distress.
١. وَزاحَمَني عِندَ اِستِلامي أَوانِسٌ
أَتَينَ إِلى التَطوافِ مُعتَجِزاتِ
2. They unveiled the sun's splendor and said to me,
"Exercise restraint, for the soul dies in an instant."
٢. حَسَرنَ عَنِ أَنوارِ الشُموسِ وَقُلنَ لي
تَوَرَّع فَمَوتُ النَفسِ في اللَحظاتِ
3. And how many resolute souls have we killed
With pebbles, beside the stoning pillars?
٣. وَكَم قَد قَتَلنا بِالمُحَصِّبِ مِن مِنىً
نُفوساً أَبِيّاتٍ لَدى الجَمَراتِ
4. In the valley's expanse, the banners of Mina,
The throngs at Arafat, and where pilgrims gather,
٤. وَفي سَرحَةِ الوادي وَأَعلامِ رامَةٍ
وَجَمعٍ وَعِندَ النَفرِ مِن عَرَفاتِ
5. Do you not know beauty robs those endowed
With chastity, who are called pilferers of virtues?
٥. أَلَم تَدرِ الحُسنَ يَسلُبُ مَن لُهُ
عَفافٌ فَيُدعى سالِبَ الحَسَناتِ
6. So our appointment, after circling Zamzam,
Is by the central dome, by the rocks,
٦. فَمَوعِدُنا بَعدَ الطَوافِ بِزَمزَمٍ
لَدى القُبَّةِ الوُسطى لَدى الصَخَراتِ
7. Where, maddened by fervor, some slake their thirst
With whatever scented women they desire.
٧. هُناكَ مَن قَد شَفَّهُ الوَجدُ يَشتَفي
بِما شاءَهُ مِن نِسوَةٍ عَطِراتِ
8. When night falls, they let down their hair, which, from
Its braids, plunges into darkness' robes.
٨. إِذا خِفنَ أَسدَلنَ الشُعورَ فَهُنَّ مِن
غَدائِرِها في أَلحُفِ الظُلُماتِ
