1. Divine law has two aspects: the prophets' precepts and wisdom's judgments.
All of it is to be followed by one who understands.

2. With God, for God has ordained it,
A straight path for one who knows when he is learned.

3. God it is who inspired this in
Their hearts though they feel not what

4. He cast into the heart, of wisdom and judgment,
Because they claimed to be knowledgeable.

5. They know not that God gave them knowledge
Thus did it come to us from the speech of antiquity

6. Because they were ignorant of what we know
Of God who judges with truth.

7. So we are happier than they in our faith
Yet they claim they are faithful tomorrow.

8. A spirit that betrayed them, their retinue,
So if they were happy they felt no regret.

9. We know best what they said and believed
And saw no precedent for them in our knowledge.

10. We are the people of witnessing in our way
While they in their thoughts are confused and blind.
