1. The night is the night of passion as it casts its veil,
Then day is the day of reason and elucidation.

2. When you recalled the clothes that you used to wear,
Religion reminded me of the memories that thrilled me.

3. I'm not blind, for I have wisdom and experience,
Yet I'm not seeing, for I am lost in love.

4. My nature disdains to be reproached by it,
Yet religious law rules that I must pay damages.

5. So my judgment of myself is not of anyone else-
I hope for no one's sake nor fear anyone.

6. If you feel my garment, you will find it smooth,
Yet inside it's like a serpent filled with venom.

7. I have particularized this for myself alone,
The kind of people at the start and culmination.

8. Our existence was formed in the image of the Names-
So all we are in, our Lord brought into being.

9. What the messengers intimated in conveying to us
Is because their Sender is He who elucidated.

10. If He had kept it secret, my inner wisdom would testify
That this is how-Glory to Him-He ordained.
