1. Love cast in my heart what it cast
So ask not about the nature of what it cast

2. I found in it pleasure in suffering
For I am truly its slave

3. God misguided us knowingly
About it so how sweet is what we encounter

4. The heart enslaved itself to its passion so my heart
Cannot detach from love even slightly

5. I became tender to love until comfort
Delightful, others suffer from it

6. When it realized I am its slave
It decreed my striking east and west

7. It crept into what it seized of tenderness
And beauty and passionate love

8. By God if what we have of it
Were on the strongest mountain it would crack

9. The gloaters softened for me from what they see
And it suffices you from gloaters slight softening

10. We did not see anyone blaming love
Except that he inevitably encounters

11. Like one who has anguish
Who is called the most miserable

12. As one who protected himself
And his Lord named him the most pious

13. So drink it bitter and sweet and nothing
But love you will be quenched with a cup

14. Don’t you see Moses and his encounter
He gave him what he hoped and thunder

15. So Moses was truthful in what
Came seeking it from him in truth

16. When he regained his consciousness
He repented and fulfilled the covenant and endured

17. And everything he had after that
From his Lord suitably

18. That yielded for him from his Lord
During the night of ascension gently

19. And saw the Spirit coming to him
As it blocked the horizon with wings

20. Telling him that the sky
You see and earth were seamless

21. So the decree of judgment made them
Into wisdom articulately

22. No servant drinks the pure here
Of everything he drinks when quenched

23. One who is temperaments of his mixtures
How can he not drink it moistly?

24. Whoever seeks infallibility in a state
Constantly necessitates truthfulness

25. And truthfulness undoubtedly as you see
God revealed to us as sustenance

26. So the servant takes of it according to his measure
Like sustenance without difference

27. We did not see anyone judging love
Remaining, or more pious, or purer

28. Like one who knows his measure
For he attained it with excellence

29. Knowledge makes its people use it
It is inevitable so hold to the truth

30. For some people did not say this
Out of ignorance of knowledge or sin
