1. If you are ignorant of the matter which you know
Then know that you are a knower

2. If you describe them as they are
Then know that you are a describer

3. For that which I have tasted cannot be told
And nothing can divert a man from that, diverter

4. And say, "My Lord increase me in knowledge," restricted
Knowledges whose taste is gnosis

5. When you attain them you are the knower in truth of them
While the others are recognitions

6. So my recognition through the essence—there is nothing other than it
And my knowledge of a single state—it is an influencer

7. Upon it, and that matter has no entrance
Unless everyone of taste halts there

8. And the people were ignorant of nothing but my expression
And I do not reveal the composed speech

9. And there is no explicitness for that—our eyes
When we are incapable with the outpouring tears

10. For if we expressed, then our great one
Stands for the similarity of speech, halting

11. Radiance shows from him, and incapacity established
Through it, and the Yathribi (the Prophet) sees, the unveiler

12. And had it not been for the Yathribi, none would know
And does the knower ignore except the opponent?

13. The Quran negated their station for them therein
And indeed I solemnly swear by God the Tremendous!

14. My ears have heard what I do not repeat
And the matter which does not oppose has turned away
