1. When I saw my existence, I did not see blindness
And I have remained in blindness forevermore

2. As it defines me at every moment
So I still exist with every breath, in anguish

3. Thus the verses came to us speaking
In Qaf, and He sent them down in Surat Al-Balad

4. From above seven heavens brought down
Upon the truth of the Spirit and the body

5. He brought them to make His call reach the ears
From the One, the Subduer

6. So when my ears heard its recitation
In my imagination a dome was erected on pillars

7. Square in shape, with angels guarding it
From all those envious, though all are envious

8. Of their own kind, so all creation envy Him
Of the lofty angels, upheld

9. Indeed, He whose abode is beneath the earth
Is scorched by the starlight observed

10. For he is a copy of them all, so for him
Is this canopy - so speak good and do not increase

11. When I saw His judgment on my body
I knew the One who cast it in my eternity

12. Were it not for the words of the Book conforming
To the essence of meanings, creation would be confused

13. So its miracle is only its integrity
From falsehood - this is its secret, understand

14. And anything else is embellished words
Not from creation, so do not count

15. Indeed the Qur'an is a light to illuminate
Guiding with the excellent Sunnah, to righteousness

16. So take it ascending if you are low
And take it descending if you are high
