1. How pure is the Exalted Lord, how sublime His purity
Dazzling the eyes with the most radiant vision

2. How the eye sees Him, exalted in purity and brilliance
On His lofty, sublime, and most splendid throne

3. When my ears hear the explanation of His words
I know for certain who is the most splendid

4. Exalted is the majesty of God above all comprehension
And God has a state of being most delightful and splendid

5. So I concluded my matter seeking the truth of my Creator
Unless the servant of God had already concluded

6. If what is said is true, then He affirms it as such
Otherwise He may forbid it

7. And one like me who errs from the truth sometimes
Affirms something, and one like me who forbids

8. He adorned me with something I was ignorant of before
So the slave could not refuse - how strange!

9. It is the side of the Ancient House, in glory
I have not seen a house more beloved and splendid

10. No intimate or friend could distract me from it
If not with words, with state he would have diverted

11. So do not, my Lord, veil me from You in any form
For I strive towards it as I am from it

12. My discourse, which I relate when heard
Is nothing but our narration about it

13. I did not know my soul to be an exact likeness
As the wise claim I was similar to it

14. When my soul aspires to grasp its essence
That is called ignorant misguidance

15. It specifically endows noble souls
Sublime in attributes with the repulsive form
