1. I saw an existence I do not recognize
How can I know what I am ignorant of?

2. If not for the existence that directs us
No heart could distinguish it

3. To an existence, to an essence, to attributes
To qualities, it came to speak of Him

4. Souls with delusions imagine Him
With delusion, no soul can grasp Him

5. If my knowledge precisely defines Him
My imagination and what accepts detailing sums Him up

6. So beauty belongs to one who loves the beautiful
And people most knowledgeable of Him are those who idealize Him

7. So a young man bears the burden of the hopeless
Knowing that the diffusion of truth bears it

8. Your brother, o daughter of Imran, your peer
In caring for the Chosen One, God protects him

9. He has a station with you, as has come to us
Thus he won what he hopes from Him

10. You see he purposely sees, when existence
Separates him from God, the Merciful reconnects him

11. That is a great station, aided for him
By God through nearness, his position

12. When He sees slaves in defiance
The truth's generosity gives them respite

13. Only His concern for him makes Him respite
Not neglect, but respite for him

14. That station came in scriptures
None would have it, were it not for his descent
