1. Behold, I hope for the virtues of one
Who is praised in ease and hardship

2. So if there is hardship, his servant's praise is released
In every state from Him, whether benefit or harm

3. And if there is ease, his servant's praise is tied
As it came in blessings and grace in ease

4. Thus came the narrations in praising the Master
Messenger, Imam, Chosen, Truthful, Righteous

5. Teacher of all means of felicity
For every intelligent, reasonable, glorious, free

6. I exemplify him as our Lord said
We colored him in Al-Ahzab in the firm Scripture

7. And in others, so know that you follow
Him, emulating, believing in He who decrees

8. I advise you, O my soul, in every state
So stand for Him in gratitude

9. For He who is called upon besides creation, is Needless
While we are in the state of poverty

10. And I have from Him in states wakefulness and intoxication
When manifestation and veil appear before me

11. So I wake when His manifestation pervades
And if He veils Himself, I am intoxicated

12. He addresses me from every essence of providence
However He wills in every prose and verse

13. My prose which He knows is from my prose
And my poetry which I compose is from my poetry

14. His identity from everything is His existence
And by it the traces are proven so stand upon my trace

15. You see the Truth as truth so follow it and do not say
When you see the Truth that I am at loss

16. For people are only between guided and misguided
So some to Syria and some to Egypt

17. These are hints for whoever was knowing
Of what I said in secret or aloud

18. My God, let not my heart deviate from what
You legislated of faith, prohibition and command

19. For with You is only realized existence
While with us is only disavowal of disbelief

20. Faith has affirmed for me realities
That contradict the proofs of prohibition by the thoughtful

21. So I gained unveiling and the realizations returned
Rising in the heart like glowing stars

22. So I have no doubt in what I have tasted
Of knowing God, affirmed in my breast

23. I revived through it knowledge, conviction and state
I met through it a Generous Lord in

24. An exalted, lofty, raining presence
